November is National Adoption Awareness Month

Hi Barbara,

I am looking for a National Adoption Awareness Button for my web-site. You are an incredible wealth of knowledge, have you come across one?

Thank you for blog-ministry! I love reading your posts!

Amy

I did a search but couldn't find one - anyone out there know of anything? Also, if you want to post information in the comments - about agency news or countries that have recently become more/less open to adoption - please do so.

Adoption is an incredibly enriching experience in which we actually mirror God's love for us.

Well, here - for anyone who's not read it: A Tale of Four Adoptions.

Maybe someone will want to do an adoption story carnival?

Love,

I recently called into our local Christian radio station during a segment that they were doing on adoption. It was such a good, inspirational program. Everyone that called in, wether they had adopted, were adopted, had given a child for adoption; all talked of the wonderful blessing that God had given them through adoption. I had to call in a be the voice for special needs adoption, and what an amazing blessing it is :-), and I got so choked up talking about, I hope they understood me! We just had our two year anniversary with our son, he has made my life richer and sweeter than any other could!! Most days I still can't believe that God blessed me with this wonderful child who brings such joy to everyone in our family, he is a pure delight!

Well you asked for info on other countries. So here is my little rant about the adoption laws in Australia. The government has just upped the cost of overseas adoption by around 500%, not that things were much easier previous to this. Adoption was closed to application for two years and finally opened again just recently. Although our family has a heart to adopt from overseas, in Queensland where we live we can't applie to adopt because the laws say if you have more than 4 children of your own you can't adopt.
The laws here are truly terrible. I know lots of large families that would love to adopt from overseas if they could. It's very frustrating!
Please pray for our country and for the laws to change. Adoption shouldn't be a service to keep barren women happy, it should be about saving children in need.
Blessings,
Tracy
