Lynn Spears steps down as mother of the year

When it comes to the news, do you sometimes feel like Alice in Wonderland?

That's the kind of day it is for me. I posted a couple of things over at The Miz Report, but the Time Person of the Year story was just too much - I wanted everyone to see it.

And here is more breaking totally weird news:

Lynne Spears' Book Delayed Indefinitely

Jamie Lynn Spears, 16-Year-Old Sister of Britney, Says She's Pregnant

NEW YORK (AP) - Lynne Spears' book about parenting has been delayed indefinitely, her publisher said Wednesday.

Lindsey Nobles, a spokeswoman for Christian book publisher Thomas Nelson Inc., said Wednesday that the memoir by the mother of Britney Spears was put on hold last week. She declined to comment on whether the delay was connected to the revelation that Spears' 16-year-old daughter, Jamie Lynn, is pregnant.

"I can tell you that we are standing behind Lynne and supporting her decision to be with her family at this time," Nobles told The Associated Press.

"Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World" was initially scheduled for release May 11, Mother's Day. Spears, the mother of three children with ex-husband Jamie Spears, had been working with a Michigan-based freelancer since March on the memoir chronicling Spears' experiences raising a family in the public eye.

Jamie Lynn Spears, star of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" and sister of Britney, told OK! magazine in its new issue that she's expecting her first child and the father is boyfriend Casey Aldridge.

Nobles and representatives for Britney Spears said they did not know how Lynne Spears could be reached for comment about the status of her book.

Are you, like I, completely astounded that the oldest, most reputable evangelical Christian publisher would have contracted the mother of Britney Spears to hear what pearls of wisdom she (through a ghostwriter, of course) had to share with poor slobs like us - mothers of non-famous kids?

This is something I've seen for years in the Christian publishing world - the rush to make money by publishing questionable material by anyone claiming to be a Christian whose name is in the news.

Well, well, well. I guess we should just be grateful a second obviously confused daughter (now two for two) might be enough to spare us this waste of forestland.

But who knows? By next year she could be a runner up for Time person of the year.

Love,

The thing is, who would have been so gullible to have bought a parenting book written by Lynne Spears?!

WOW! Amazing isn't it?!?! What has this world come to? Oh yeah, like I would definitely take her advice on parenting.....LOL

Well put. We were talking about the same thing here in TN. It is surprising in a world where surprise is the last reaction we should have.

Have you read the book: "The Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborne? I think you might like it...it is changing me in frightening ways...can't wait to see what God has in store for our family...

LOL. You crack me up Barbara. I feel very sorry for that whole family

The mother of Brittney Spears giving parenting advice! That is about the most ridiculous thing I have heard, unless of course it is entitled "I Really Screwed Up...Now Here's How I Should Have Done It"

the whole thing is very, very sad. and yes, baffling to me as i've seen this trend in the "christian marketplace" several times in the last year. WHAT IN THE WORLD????
