    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!

    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Jonny and me

IMG_8311.JPG

That's Jonny and me - Sophia took the picture. Tripp took my new picture last Sunday, btw.

Sophia, Maddy, Jesse and I are on our way down to Lynchburg to see Ben in Die Fledermaus at Liberty. I'm always excited to see Ben sing and will share pictures when I come home tomorrow. Tripp will be holding down the fort and we'll send down another contingent to see next week's performance.

Which reminds me that I forgot to share pictures of Sophia and Maddy when they were in Godspell - will do that also when I get home.

No matter what curveballs life throws at you, just remember to hang on to the positive and enjoy the ride! This is when I thank God for having LOTS of kids - it keeps me happy!

Love,

LOVE the picture! :)

Once, when I was a young mom with only four kids, I saw an elderly mom who had 8 children. (She really was becoming elderly...she was in her eighties.) But at a family gathering, her youngest son - in his forties, came and sat on the couch next to her and threw his arm around her. It wasn't a quick hug. He sat like that for about a half an hour.

That changed me, changed my mothering. (Well, Christ changed my mothering thru that...) I wanted to be like that someday, to HAVE that with my children. I knew I wasn't that great of a mom...and it motivated me to begin loving my children more and myself less. It helped me to stop resenting my children as intrusions on my time, and looking ahead to the relationships I wanted to have with them...and parenting in such a manner.

I still love to see "big boys" with their arms around their mom...my big boys (13 and 15) still do it. That is wonderful to me!

GREAT picture! (Both of them, actually, although the one with you and Jonny is my favorite.)

Tell Sophia she did a super job -- she can take my picture any day!
