American Idol - week 2

David Archeluta was AWESOME!!!!
And I'm guessing he's a Christian - his jettisoning of the first verses of John Lennon's "Imagine" was telling. And made the song so much more positive and in keeping with a Christian worldview.
And what a doll - so sweet and humble and filled with joy. and his parents looking like Mr. and Mrs. normal, down-to-earth and unpretentious America.
Chikezie tied with David Hernandez for second. Chikezie's parents are so gracious and refined - no coarse booing, I love that.
I've stated before that American Idol is full of Christian finalists each season. If you've been putting off watching it because of prejudice - pre-judging - this would be a great season to start. It's a family-friendly show that parents and kids can enjoy together. There are lots of lessons to learn on how we receive criticism and learn and grow.
And this year - I'm predicting now if I haven't already - a wholesome great-role-model kinda 17 year old is gonna sweep it away.

I think you are right. I know that David Archuleta for sure is Christian as he is Mormon and so is Brooke White.

Will be ever get to see any of the Curtis' kids on American Idol? Is that something that Maddy or Sofia would like to try? I think that would be so cool!
Have a nice trip and be patient with your cast.....you are right to remind yourself "it could be worse".

I love American Idol and there are some great, great singers on there...especially David Archuleta and Chikezie. Still have to watch the gals...we have it taped on DVR. :):):) Blessings, Stephanie (This is one show that we watch as a family...the kids love it, too) :)

I'm surprised he sang "Imagine" as a Christian..."Imagine there's no heaven/It's easy if you try/No Hell below us/Above us only sky"
Also...
"...and no religion too"
Direct lyrics from the song!

Hi Chelsea -
That was the point! He didn't sing that verse.

I agree with you about David. He's my favorite guy. He's so humble. It's amazing to hear him sing with such a huge voice and then be so humble when all the girls are screaming for him. I just love him!! I understand he won Star Search at the ripe old age of 9.

He is a Mormon. He said in an interview: "I want to be to rock music what Mitt Romney is to politics." He also said he wants to be a break out Mormon to the music world - I am not sure what he meant by that - I guess he's never heard of the Osmonds.

Just hope the voting is right, coz last year I was sure milinda would win and the year before I was sure chris d would win. David is a great singer and should win, but I hope people vote for him.

Not sure why you thought Hernandez was a Christian...There are lots of stories out right now that he used to work in a gay bar...
