LCPS Board meeting tonight - penguins on parade?
My email to Loudoun School Board members, Dr. Hatrick, and the ubiquitous Wade Byard, public relations officer:
I cannot attend tonight's meeting due to too many children with too many activities. Here are my thoughts, which may be worth considering.Propaganda in children's literature
If Dr. Hatrick did step outside procedure, perhaps it was because - as John Stevens originally thought but for different reasons - the rules need an overhaul. Perhaps we really do need to consider the problem I've broached in the above post.
Sincerely,
Barbara Curtis
I do so wish I could be there. I like to provide some alternative coverage to the Washington Post, which is sure to be there to spin their liberal magic tomorrow. But my kids come first, which is why last week I canceled Friday's speaking engagement to take Maddy to Virginia Tech for her singing competition (they graciously rescheduled for May 2 - yay!)
So often it comes down to this - traditional-minded people are busy with their kids and can't show up in costume to protest at school board meetings.
But I'm on to other, more productive things. Penguin propaganda is not the mountain I want to die on.

Hi Barbara:
I so wish I could go, too. Did I tell you that my Jonathan got kicked out of LVHS for a DISABILITY related behavioral episode? It's been a LONG month. It's gotten acrimonious. Not fun for anyone. Least of all, for Jonathan.
