American Idol - week 3
Top of the night for me was Jason Castro singing Hallelujah.
Leonard Cohen wrote this way back when - 60's? 70's? Jeff Buckley covered it quite beautifully. And most recently, it was popularized as background in an angst-filled Shrek scene.
There are lots of versions on YouTube. I think my favorite is Rufus Wainwright:
Maddy's been working on this for a couple months to add to her repertoire. It's a haunting song and I never get tired of it.
David Archeluta and David Cook right up there at the top too.

My son Lucas learned that song on the piano a couple of years ago and I love to hear him play and sing it. I missed AI last night, as I have most of this season. It was easier to remember when we only got four TV channels, before we got satellite TV at Christmas time. I miss it.
