Great gift idea: Memory bears

Running this again because I just realized I forgot to put Holly's link Duh.

I'm really intrigued by this idea: Holly at Seeking Faithfulness can take a piece of fabric which holds special memories for someone and make a bear out of it. What a great gift idea - Mother's Day or Father's Day, anyone?

On my way to look around my house. . . .

Huggable Memories

HUGGABLE MEMORY BEARS

Perhaps you have a shirt of your Grandma’s or Grandpa’s? It is a wonderful, tangible way to connect your children with those who are far away or who have passed on from this life. It is a huggable memory.

Perhaps you have a special baby blanket that would make a soft bear. Your imagination provides the fabric for the bear. If you send it to me, I will turn your memory into something that you can hold.

Memory Bears sell for $18, plus shipping.

Order at Seeking Faithfulness.

She's also making bears of fabric she's recycled - and picturing them to sell as she makes them.

But I'm thinking maybe the white wool suit I wore when Tripp and I got married. Or maybe his mom's wedding dress made into bears for her granddaughters who miss her so but will never wear the dress themselves......

Any other ideas?

Love,

I LOVE this! Thanks for passing this on.

On a totally unrelated note: how is your daughter-in-law, Hattie, doing?

Ooooooh! I have one of Holly's bears and we all LOVE it!! She does great work! I have a chenille bedspread that belonged to my grandmother that I would love to have Holly make into a bear, too.

I'm thinking of doing this out of one of my husband's ACU (Army combat uniform) shirts. He's deploying soon, and this would be nice for the kids I think.

After my grandfather died last year, my aunt did this - she took one of his bathrobes and made three bears of it, for herself, my father, and my grandmother. She used one of his old shirts to make little shirts for the bears (the cuffs of a polo shirt made good collars for the bear shirts), and sewed on a few novelty buttons representing some of Grandpa's favorite pastimes as decoration. It really is such a sweet idea!
