American Idols sing Shout to the Lord!
The most-watched show on television gave praise where praise was due last week, singing Shout to the Lord. In the Wednesday night version, Jesus was edited out of the song: the lyrics said "My shepherd, my Savior." Still - not exactly something you'd expect to see on a show that ironically many Christians avoid because they're prejudged it.
On Thursday night - perhaps in response to objections to the previous night's editing? - the eight finalists sang the true version of Shout to the Lord with full lyrics:
My Jesus, My Savior Lord there is none like You All of my days, I want to praise The wonders of Your mighty love My Comfort, My Shelter Tower of refuge and strength Let every breath, all that I am Never cease to worship You (Chorus) Shout to the Lord, all the earth Let us sing. Power and majesty, praise to the King. Mountains bow down and the seas will roar At the sound of Your name I sing for joy at the work of Your hands Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand Nothing compares to the promise I have in you!
Enjoy!

I'm so glad that you mentioned this. I kept telling my husband that I was shocked that they did that song. In todays world I would have never thought that a major television show would do such a religious song. I was extremely impressed with the show and the performers. I even bought the song on itunes!

Wow, You have to wonder about Darlene's (songwriter) royalties on that. God has really blessed her efforts on that song.
They did a great job. Thanks for sharing as I am probably one of the only people in America that doesn't watch AI. =)

Incredible! I'm not an "Idol" watcher simply because I don't think about it, but this is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing it!

My husband and I were shocked, awed and very excited about this. I caught the "change of lyrics" on Wednesday as well. WE were so happy that they sang the true version on Thursday. It is one of the only shows that we watch as a family (the other is Extreme makeover.... we just pass the tissue box back and forth)
There is something going on at AI.... and we like it!
