Rachel - update

girl%20praying.jpg

Those who were praying for Rachel last month will probably be as blessed as I was by this email she said I could share with you:

Hey Everyone, Thank you all for your prayers over the last month. It's been really hard, but it's helped to know you guys were praying for me. I wanted to write and ask you to pray for me once again. I have been to the doctor a couple more times since I last updated you guys. The first thing I wanted to tell you about is really cool:

A little over a week ago, I had went to the doctor to have my levels checked one last time (or so I thought at the time). The next day a doctor who is not my regular family doctor but who had seen me each time because the first time I went my regular doctor was not there, called me with the results of my blood work. He asked how I was doing, and wanted to know what had happened after he sent me to the ER, since he didn't get updated on me after I left his care. I told him all about it looking like it was ectopic at the ER, and then how the very next day the u/s was repeated and showed the exact opposite. Like all the medical personnel I've recounted this story to, he was surprised. When I told him the story originally, I left out the spiritual part. I was kind of afraid of appearing foolish to such a scientific/intellectual man. After I told him what had happened, he said he was sorry that I had to go through that. I then felt like I should tell him about everyone praying for me, and how I believed that was God working a miracle for me. I didn't say anything about deciding not to end the pregnancy if it was ectopic, but just that God spared me from having to deal with it. After I told him, he didn't say anything for a minute, and then he told me that he thought God probably had answered my prayers. He told me that a couple of days after he suspected I had an ectopic pregnancy, his wife began to have pain in the same place I had. Like me, she had no risk factors for having an ectopic pregnancy, but, unlike me, she had no reason to suspect that she was pregnant. He told me that she was breastfeeding and had yet to have a period. It was because he had seen me that he thought that she might have an ectopic pregnancy. Turned out, she did, and because he caught it in time it didn't rupture her tubes. I was so thankful that he told me this. It gave me a measure of comfort. I'm glad his wife was okay, and if, because of what I was going through, she was spared serious problems, I'm thankful for that. In the end, God turned it all around for me, anyway, and saved me from having to make a really hard decision. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys about that.

The other thing is after I had that blood work done, my regular doctor who I had not yet seen wanted me to come in and talk to him. He did more bloodwork, and he told me he wanted me to see my ob/gyn and have another u/s to make sure everything was gone. I had that done on Wednesday. They called me yesterday and said I needed to have a D&C, because there was still tissue left behind. My surgery is scheduled for noon on Monday. My best friend, Amy, is here with me. She got here Wed evening. She was supposed to go home early on Monday, but she's going to stay till Tuesday and go to the hospital with me. My mom is watching all of our kids for us. God really worked out the timing of her visit. It's comforting to know that she will be with me. Anyway, I'm a bit nervous about it, and very emotional about it. I would appreciate your prayers.

Thanks for your prayers, and thanks for loving me.

Love,
Rachel

Thank you for sharing this Rachel - it blessed me too to know how God used your experience for good. We don't always get to find that out, so I always get goosebumps when God is so gracious as to allow me to catch a glimpse from His perspective.

This also reminds me that when I can't understand why God is not answering my prayers, He is always answering prayers. Sometimes He just says No. Not Now. and sometimes Maybe Never.

But He has a much bigger perspective than I do.

Love,

Speaking of how God answers prayer, or doesn't...I just wanted to share something I wrote from on my own blog...

Check it out here...Table for Eight.
