Time: global warming a cause worth dying for?

Iwo Jima Veterans Blast Time's 'Special Environmental Issue' Cover

The cover of the April 21 issue of Time took the famous Iwo Jima photograph by Joe Rosenthal of the Marines raising the American flag and replaced the flag with a tree. The cover story by Bryan Walsh calls green “the new red, white and blue.”
Donald Mates, an Iwo Jima veteran, told the Business & Media Institute on April 17 that using that photograph for that cause was a “disgrace.”

Why are they pushing this down our throats?
For those of you who are younger, you may not know that in the 70s Time magazine was heralding the Coming Ice Age. I wrote about it - with clips - here.
I'm afraid that in the academic science community, we have another case where freedom of thought/speech has been squashed as the Sky-Is-Falling crowd hails their new substitute for religion. I mean, if you don't believe in God, you gotta believe in something: Y2K, bird flu, global warming/cooling (depending on the decade).

Global warming is a farce, plain and simple. The fact is, the earth has experienced climate change many times due to natural causes, like fluctuations in the sun and so forth. The Bible even says that "while the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat and summer and winter and day and night shall not cease" (Genesis 8:22). There you have it right there in black and white from God Himself. Our climate is not going to change so drastically that the seasons are altered resulting in the horrific doomsday scenarios taught by the "Goracle", et al. Like you said, it's a throwback to the hippy generation and it's a religion for many of them. I hate their proselytizing! Besides, I truly believe many of the weather disasters we are seeing lately are due in part to God's judgement, but that's another topic for another day...
Anyway, the cover angers me also, because I'm in the middle of reading Flags of Our Fathers, the story about the flagraisers on Mt. Suribachi, and the hell they went through on that island fighting the Japanese. I cannot even imagine the horrors that are described, vividly, by those who were there. How dare Time magazine use this for their dubious cause!! But then, again, Time magazine is a liberal rag to the core, so I am not surprised. Shame on them!

A trip to the museum in Denver a few weeks ago with the kids had us digesting the fact that we were standing on what was once the shores of a vast tropical ocean.
What were the dinosaurs doing to cause all that?

You know, Barbara, I am disheartened that so many people who DO believe in God have bought into the global warming panic. Glad you're still talking about it, and glad that Crosswalk carried your articles...
