Alex Barton card campaign - gotta love that smile!

From Melissa Barton

This last box of letters was a very emotional one for me. The moment I opened the first card I started to cry. Alex said mom, do not cry, I told him I was happy. I could feel every prayer that has been prayed for our family.

I love that Melissa is sending these pictures so you all can see your own cards and show them to your children! If a picture says a thousand words, how many do these say?

I know this has been a big boost for everyone in their family.

Melissa Barton is getting quite a pile of mail, hundreds of cards and letters from all over the globe.

"Oh, this is from Australia," she says as she sorts through a mountain of colorful cards spread out on her dining room table.

All these cards are actually for her five-year old son Alex. "This one here says the world thinks you're wonderful," she read aloud as she looked at a Spiderman greeting card. Other cards, many of which were handmade by children, have captions such as "You are very special," and "I think you're nice."

She can't believe the response. "It's amazing, it's absolutely amazing!"

Her son won the hearts of people everywhere, after the story broke last month

I love the way this evolved. Two of my readers were inspired to suggest it. Another made the button and you all spread the word and sent in cards - thus turning a frustrating and hurtful experience into a blessing.

Thanks to everyone! I'm still collecting what's trickling in for a final shipment soon.

Love,
