Alex Barton - update 7
I shipped our last Care Package to Alex last week. His mom Melissa wrote:
Alex says THANK YOU!I am very appreciative of the support that everyone has provided thus far. It has been a long road and we have a far journey ahead of us. We are taking the case to federal court and I expect that this will be a landmark case for autism.
I know what it is like to have my own son loved by the world.
As Martin Luther King Jr once said, "A time comes when silence is betrayal".

Melissa: You have my admiration, not only in the extent to which you have supported your son, but also in a "small" thing which I find large: we received a thank you note from Alex with your help. I have been saddened at the almost universal abandonment of the thank you note. Wedding gifts, graduation gifts . . . once in awhile I hear roundabout from the mother of the bride, "Oh, people are too busy today to do thank you notes". I feel like snapping that I'm too busy to shop for gifts, but that would defeat the point of protesting against a decline in manners ;-).
You are teaching Alex such an important thing, lighting the flame of gratitude and grace toward others. I know this cannot be easy with the volume of mail you received, and I admire and appreciate this that you are doing.
