Moving -

Moving is one of those times when I am convinced that I am married to the best man in the whole world.
I mean it!
Tripp and I have been married 25 years and this is our ninth move. How in the world that happened, I do not know.
However, I feel so great about this move. After 20 years of owning a home, we are going to be renting. But I love our new house. Tripp borrowed some trucks for the move and some friends offered to help us. So this is a real do-it-yourself project.
We are moving about 25 minutes from where we live now, so we've made a couple trips so far and I think we've moved about a quarter of our stuff. I got my living room set up and put a lot of books into the built-in bookcases. I am so excited! I actually like our new house much better - it just FEELS right - in a way that this house never did.
Oh, but what I wanted to say was how great Tripp is in this kind of situation. He strategizes and plans the packing and which people and which trucks will be where. And he does it all so cheerfully and so well. Wotta guy!
When we got there this morning I asked if he was going to carry me over the threshold - again! - and he said he was going to wait until all the kids were there too.
Those of you who read the story of how we lost our status as homeowners, will know how unexpectedly happy this ending is - not because the federal government came in to rescue us, but because we just shifted paradigms, realizing that for some people at some times, home ownership is just not the mountain to die on (as that one lady did yesterday in Massachusetts).
I am thanking God for the miracle of finding such a wonderful place to live and for the feeling of being free from the financial burden we've been under.
Thanking him for allowing us to make a new beginning!
And promising to be at my new backyard fence soon.

I am so glad that you guys have found where you are supposed to be. My husband and I have been married for three years and have already moved four times! And we still don't feel at home where we are. We know that God will be moving us yet again in the near future. Hopefully our next moving adventure will be as smooth as yours!

Barbara, I am soooo glad that your move is going well (and that you let us know). I am glad to learn that you have good help with this and that such joy abounds.
I have had you on my mind all day and have been lifting up prayers for you and your family. And I've been especially praying that the little boys wouldn't be sad about leaving a place they were so familiar with,........praying that they are overjoyed, also.
We will all look forward to continued good reports as the Curtis family settles in.
Blessings to you all!!!

How wonderful that you found a great home! We've moved 18 - 20 times in our 11 year marriage (I lost count)! I'm constantly reminded how much I love my husband when I see him faithfully manhandling all of our stuff onto a utility trailer - see him taking care of his family!
Happy trails! (And make sure to put a roll of TP in your purse to bring with you to the new house - you don't want to be wondering where it is when you need it!)

First, I LOVE that picture - hilarious!
We've been married four and a half years and have moved six times. Some people see that as a sign of instability (and of course love to call in their judgment and opinion), but we like to see it as an adventure in learning. Learning about ourselves, learning that different seasons bring different needs. Different needs and seasons require change at times. We're not willing to die on the homeowner mountain because of this and we're willing to listen to where God is taking us, when he is taking us to it. Sometimes we've made some mistakes and we've had to find our way back to where God wants us and thanks to His grace, we're never too far from being found back inside His arms and His plan.
Ann at Holy Experience had a great post up recently where she wrote about how everything is about God's grace. She related a story Max Lucado tells about a man who's regular response to goodness or tragedy as "We'll see" when people chose to chime in with their opinion about the good or bad of the situation. This man knew that each circumstance brought with it the possibility of its' own good and bad, and that all is grace.
You're on your own new adventure and your honesty and vulnerability is a gift to other people (me). I'm excited for all that you'll experience and learn in this new home and on this new journey! Thank you for sharing all about it with us!! I look forward to hearing about the ways that God will reveal His grace and love to you through all the (perceived) good and bad. You are a gift and great example to me!
