Rescue Squad Special needs registry - Purcellville

This is a local call-out from a town close to me (thanks, Suzanne) - but it got me thinking that all of us parents with family members with special needs should see if our local rescue department has a similar program. If not, you might want to get one started,

List Compiled for Residents with Special Medical Needs

The Town of Purcellville Police Department and Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad are in the process of compiling a list of citizens who may have special needs during times of electrical outages or inclement weather. Both organizations want to know who may need help and what services may need to be provided during these times.

“It is our responsibility to help our residents when they have special medical needs during certain situations. If we know before these situations occur then we can be prepared and lend assistance by having the appropriate volunteers or equipment that may be needed in advance,” said Chief Darryl Smith.

If there is a possibility that a you or a family member may need assistance, emergency power, water, oxygen, or may need a ride to the doctor or a relative or a heating/cooling station during inclement weather please call the Purcellville Police at 540-338-7242 to be added to its Special Medical Needs List.

I used the tag Opportunities to Give because I believe all of us should look for ways beyond giving money and arranging church events to serve our community (which I wrote about in Reaching the Left from the Right: Talking about Social Issues with People Who don't Think Like You.

They updated their computer with information regarding her disabilities, seizure disorder and the location of her room in our house. Now, if 911 is ever called, the information comes up on their screen
