Starry Starry Night - Van Gogh's art slideshow

[Ran this last year, but the song ran through my mind today when I saw the print in the doctor's office - thought new readers might enjoy it.]

This piece by Don McLean came out in the 70's but I hope that those of you much younger than I have heard it. Don is most famous for his cryptic song American Pie - and I guess he's still making music because I found a website for him.

Finding this on youtube really made me appreciate the extra level of creativity and sharing we have because of the Internet.

And btw, if you've never seen the actual original Van Gogh paintings, see if there are any in a museum near you. The ones I've seen at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Smithsonian in DC have just taken my breath away. You just can't capture the heavy brush strokes on a flat print or computer screen.

Van Gogh was a genius - like many, a tortured one. But he saw things we couldn't see and left us a legacy of great beauty.

Just thought you might like to share this with your older kids.

Love,

Just saw a Van Gogh in the Carnegie in Pittsburgh this past weekend.
We sang that song in chorus, in school. It was contemporary music, back then.
I remember the class ahead of us singing This is the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius. :-)

Do you know where you're going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you?

Those were the days. That was the music.

And yes, my hair is graying. :-)
