The Winds of Fate - Ella Wheeler Wilcox
In line with my last entry, about God's redemption of me from a dark and wretched background, I do like this poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, which emphasizes our role ('Tis the set of a soul/That decides its goal) in receiving the help He offers.

The Winds of Fate
by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails,
And Not the gales,
That tell us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;
As we voyage along through life,
'Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

I loved this poem the first time I heard it, in a sermon at church 8 years ago. Then, when I read it in your book, Barbara, I knew you were my kind of Mommy!
