    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!

Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Gift Ideas - adoption

hand in hand.JPG

Do you have any suggestions for a gift for adoptive parents/family? We have two friends that will adding to their already large families very soon and I want to do something special and I'm drawing a blank. :o/

A quilt won't work, they both already have one for their new baby.

Any suggestions?

One way to spread the joy: a donation to Shaohannah's Hope, the organization begun by the Steven Curtis Chapman family after they adopted their first daughter from China. Shaohannah's Hope has been raising adoption awareness - and making it possible for willing families to receive the funding they need to adopt.

And I know there are a lot of adoptive families reading MommyLife who may have some ideas to share of what gifts really touched their hearts.

I like the idea of a donation in the child's honor. Another place you might consider is to a local crisis pregnancy center or to a broader based pro-life group such as Human Life Int. or Priests for Life. It honors the birth-mom's choice for life. Our son, with our help, raises pledges for our local CPC's walk-a-thon in honor of his birthmother. Another option, when the child probably won't need many things as the siblings will be handing down, is gift certificates for formula or diapers....that cost adds up and adoption can be expensive.

I think they will be grateful for anything you can do for them. When we adopted our two foster kids we were never given so much as a card from anyone. I think a gift card is a great idea, then they can use it for whatever they need and they can pick it out. God Bless you for caring, I hope you find the perfect gift!
