Obama: China's infrastructure superior to US

This guy is unbelievable! The lengths he will go to to denigrate the US - and his terrifying naivete concerning world affairs.

If we had an unbiased media - which even the media are now admitting they're not (see the Washington Post: Obama's Edge in the Coverage Race ), we'd see these clips on the evening news and shudder at the thought of turning the keys to our country's future over to him:

Heaven help us!

Obama is basing his assessment of China on the propaganda, secrecy and lies rampant during the Olympics - and dutifully fed to the American public by the liberal MSM (ironically, the same people who have everything to lose if America's government changes in the direction they encourage).

For a more accurate assessment of the facade China presented and the actuality:

By Mark Alexander

Having just returned from Beijing, where I was the guest with a corporate association, it is a bit disconcerting to watch NBC's glossy coverage of the Olympic games, and China in general, and to endure the echo NBC's coverage is receiving through other media outlets. The network dared not venture off the reservation, and its coverage offered no observation on the obfuscation outside the Olympic village.

Of course, it's the Year of the Rat.

While in China, I enjoyed major Olympic venues, but I was far more impressed by meetings with several Chinese leaders of underground Christian movements, Chinese entrepreneurs, and other Chinese reformers.

Suffice it to say, I found China to mirror what I anticipated: A great people enslaved under the rule of the tyrannical Red Chinese government--1.329 billion people, in fact, who share none of the rights outlined in our Constitution, which most Americans take for granted.

Good citizens need to base their judgment of candidates on facts, not feelings. And to be willing to change their minds if presented with new information. Please do what you can to spread the news the MSM is not spreading - so that we can make an informed decision.

I hate to say it but Obama is right on this one...The Chinese economy is growing at an unprecedented rate while America's is floundering.

Just look at how the exchange rate of Yuan and US dollars has changed:

http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/5y?usdcny=x

Estimates from the Federal Reserve and most economists for US growth in 2008 are hovering from 1.5% to 2.5%:

While China's economic growth is expected to exceed 10% in 2008, and even that's a slight decline from 2007.

You can put your hands over your ears and ignore it, but China is likely going to be a real challenge for the economic sector of the US in the future. We need leaders - I don't care what party they're from or who they are or if they're named Obama or McCain or Barr or Baldwin - who are willing to recognize the truth.

Thank you for posting these. The second and third to last paragraphs in the article were very insightful and, I believe, correct.

Gordon -

No one is arguing about whether China's economy is growing.

But many are concerned with the tone of this remark and a pattern of ugly anti-Americanism.

China is building its growth on the backs of its people, who are driven to perform for the good of their country while reaping few personal benefits. For a chilling view of what a Chinese worker's domestic life looks like, see I.O.U.S.A, the brilliant new movie which deals with our failing economy.

There is no question that we need to address our economy - and to address it posthaste - but Obama isolates that factor as just another putdown of our country.

I'm not hearing any solutions from him. Just more America Stinks.

Thanks for the statistics, but no one reading here is stupid. I think you missed the point. Perhaps because you didn't read the article I linked, which made this a lot more thoughtful post than just a knee jerk response to Boy Wonder Obama, who just eight years ago lost a congressional election, ran and won in 2004 and has served less than 150 days in the Senate because he's been busy running for President.

Obama actually has a very extensive plan full of solutions to all kinds of problems...It's 60 pages long and takes a while to read:

www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf

I have not heard John McCain provide any solutions other than continuing tax breaks for the rich and yelling about drilling for more oil which would do nothing to alleviate gas prices...I haven't decided who to vote for, but I want a candidate who addresses the real problems and doesn't continue the same policies that we have had for 8 years.

We can pretend America is strong as ever and wave flags around, but that's going to do absolutely nothing...The first step to rehabilitation is recognizing the problem.

It is quite horrifying to read what happened to an entire region in China miles from Beijing. Apparently, there was thought to be a great need for additional water supply to support the Games. So how did China and its underperforming infrastructure solve this problem? They stole the water from a farming community which has dried up and left thousands upon thousands homeless. No help from the Chinese government forthcoming.
