Paglia on Palin: maybe the first woman president
Speaking of double standards, I know at least one member of the Left whose opinion I respect because she thinks for herself rather than just following the party line.
Camille Paglia is a gifted intellectual and an outspoken lesbian whose opinion I often disagree with, but who definitely is not afraid to voice an independent opinion - as when she insists that high schools should not be involved in promoting homosexuality in students because a lot of times sexual confusion at that stage of life signals issues that need to be worked through.
She also is on record as saying that homosexuality is inborn, but acquired.
She loathes Bush and the War in Iraq - but she also loathes the Clintons. She is an Obama supporter through and through.
Here's how she weighs in today on Sarah Palin:
"We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling," said Camille Paglia, the cultural critic. "That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails."
As reported in the UK Times this morning: Sarah Palin: conservatives find the girl of their dreams.
Just another thing Camille and I agree on. As I watched her speech with my 15-year-old daughter Maddy - applauding and cheering all the way - I told her that she was truly seeing something truly historic - the woman who would indeed become the first President of the United States.
And, hey! I love those shoes!

If Sarah Palin can find the time to raise five children, govern a state, run for office and still find fabulous shoes....she can handle being VP! (And I should be able to lose the yoga pants!)
