Palin - finally, someone REAL!
Just saw Palin's nomination speech -
Absolutely incredible and riveting -
Proof that someone real and authentic can connect with people without a Greek temple backdrop and crowds of 85,000.
Mother of five who was a normal everyday person until she got into PTA when her kids were in school - ran for City Council, then mayor, then governor -
not out of a desire for power, but out of a sense of service to others.
Waiting for the speech to go up on Youtube to link.
It is a must-see!

That was AMAZING! I loved it. I loved how unashamed she is of her love for her husband and her pride and love for her children. Pelosi and Clinton both seem to downplay their role in their family as if it is something minor or something unimportant and it's very displeasing to watch - as if women can't be massively proud of her family (and her role in it) AND get a job done in a public setting/career. She seems like a mother bear in everything she takes on - which means she'll treat issues in Washington the same way. Unafraid to do exactly what needs to be done, even if it means pleasing none of the usual players. I'm really excited!

An awesome speech! I grabbed my 18 month old girl and sat in front of the TV watching Fox News the entire time. She applauded on cue with everyone else :) As a mom to 5, I couldn't be more proud!

Ok, one more thing...
SHE is in touch with the rest of America. She knows what the average American is dealing with. She isn't so far removed from regular life that she doesn't know what it's like to really work for a living, struggling with the effects of policies made on the Hill.
Can you tell I'm excited?

I didn't get to see the speech so I'm waiting for someone to YouTube it. I really don't know anything about her, so I'm interested to see what she has to say.
I'll admit I have a hard time imagining why the mother of a 5 month old baby would even want a job that if done properly would basically mean she can't raise her own child for at least 4 years.
Doing justice to the position of POTUS or VP means being on the job 24 hours a day - it's just what the job calls for and what America deserves. Is the mother of a five month old with special needs willing and able to do that? If she is, then I think her child deserves better. If she isn't, then I think McCain should have picked a different running mate.

I loved the way Cindy McCain hovered around Trigg, you could tell she was hoping for a chance to hold him...she did get the shawl he was sleeping on to hold by the end of the speech though.

Wow! What a great acceptance speech! As I watched, I thought, we've all been praying and praying to God to intervene in the Presidential Election.......and maybe she is our answer to our prayers!? She is not a Washington insider. She got in involved in politics to serve the people, not for her own personal interests. She has cut taxes, she wouldn't accept a WA porkbarrel bridge to nowhere in her state, she has a son in the military, she gave birth to a child who she knew had Down Syndrome. She is what Christains and Conservatives have been wanting in office! I hope she isn't attacked unmercilessly, but I have a feeling she can handle that. My first impression of her is that she is a true feminist in the Christian sense of the word. I am truly impressed and have new hope for the outcome of the elections! May God bless her and her family! Let's keep praying for a pro-life President until the last ballot is counted in November!
Julie c.m. and P.S. to Anna, Although I can understand your concern, God has different plans for each of us. Trig certainly seems to have a lot of family and love in his life to help him grow and develop. Some people God has gifted with unusual abilities and talents and has provided them with opportunities in life to use these gifts and talents. Sarah Palin certainly seems to be special and I think God is using her and her baby with Down Syndrome to advance the pro-life cause in a way that no one else at this time can. Remember, God uses the meek to lead the strong.

Wow. I have goosebumps. I am SO thrilled. What an inspired choice, I find her to be VERY impressive on many fronts.
I believe that already this will have had a positive impact on the perception of downs syndrome and its impact on families.
I am watching this election with great interest from over here!

I told my husband as we watched the news this morning that you would be pumped up about this! I remeber reading about Sarah Palin on your blog a few months back after the birth of her son. I know that moms don't make up the majority of the vote, but I sure can relate to her. She seems so down to earth.
