Ad attacks Obama's support of infanticide

Featured in the ad above is Gianna Jensen, who readers may recall meeting at MommyLife June 30, 2006 when I wrote Stunning Rebuke of Planned Parenthood .

Just as Gianna has been sharing her point of view for years before this election cycle, the questions on Obama's ethics and morality began long before he was running for president:

Jill Stanek: Links to Barack Obama's votes on IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Original audio/transcript of Obama arguing against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act:

Keep in mind that this act was supported at a federal level by Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL).

Obama stands by his position, and defends his infamous Saddleback "above my paygrade" remark:

Obama Gets Heated on Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

The media has consistently mis-interpreted Rick Warren's question about when an infant first has access to civil rights as meaning: when does life begin?
I'm not sure how Obama understood the question. It's not a theology question. It's a legal one.

The bloggers over at GetReligion have posted on this a couple times.

Julana -

Maybe the confusion is that or rights are God-given - as the framers of the Constitution recognized in their choice of words. They are not up to the government to give or take away.

Life is life. Obama thinks that it is ours to give and take away. I think it is more likely that he understands the question, but that since so much of his support is from the pro-abortion community, he has to tread carefully when trying to simultaneously court the Evangelical vote.

A true leader leads from what he knows is morally right, not from what will please the crowd.

Imagine if Obama said tomorrow that he'd had a change of heart and that abortion was wrong. Would he lose his support base? Or would they trust him as a leader enough to follow?

If he is not leading with his opinion, but following his support base, then is he a leader?

And don't you think his character was revealed in his years in the Illinois Senate where more often than not he voted "present" rather than take a public position?

Clearly, this is a man who wants to assume a powerful position and will say what he thinks will get him there.

How fantastic for Gianna Jensen to do this ad. Wonderful impact!

Obama........So he couldn't vote "yes" or "no" over one hundred times, but did vote (no) on BAIPA. Can't folks see him for who he is? Gosh, he reminds me of "the double-minded man that is unstable in all he does".

I wonder what his daughters will think when they grow enough to understand that their father voted "no" on protecting babies. I wonder if that will change how much they feel his love?
