McCain/Palin rally Fairfax 9/10 photos
My daughter Maddy, her friend JC, and I went to the rally yesterday
McCain
What a wonderful time we had!
And a big thanks to the Fairfax School Board, which voted in emergency session not to allow the McCain campaign to hold their rally as scheduled at Fairfax High School - though Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have had events at high schools throughout their campaign.
But what a blessing it turned out to be that the venue was changed, as 23,000 people showed up - energized, excited, and elated as the campaign has picked up steam.
Maddy, JC and I got up early to find our way there. With the help of a state trooper who rode side-by-side with us to give us directions - just like a movie - we found our way to Van Dyck Park, where someone grabbed us to put us in the VIP section - better than a press pass!

Hi Barbara-
I interviewed you earlier this summer for loudounextra.com. : ) I covered the McCain/Palin rally yesterday for a political youth vote blog I write for and really enjoyed it. And I did think I saw you there in passing- ends up I was right!
However, from everything I've read, the reason McCain/Palin were not allowed to speak at Fairfax High School was because the rally would be during school hours- a huge distraction to students. The Virginia high schools which have hosted Obama and Clinton in the past did it after school hours or during the summer. I mean, who knows if there were other forces at work, but there does seem to be at least a pretty good reason for this decision by the Fairfax School Board.

I'm....NOT....jealous, Barbara. (Wah!!!!!) Wish I were there!
How did you NOT grab her hand and say, "I've had FOUR Down's babies!" She would have thought you were awesome!

How exciting for you all. I wish I were there! When we lived in FL, we got to go to a rally for Pres. Bush. It was absolutely electric! Looks like your experience was similar. =)
Thanks for the great pictures...
