Obama: lipstick and lies
I wasn't going to get into this because it was just so creepy.
But what concerns is the aftermath:
Obama - who's typically so self-righteous about being morally superior to other candidates - instead of admitting that he struck a new low, decides to play the poor, petulant picked-on candidate (again), accusing McCain of attacking him when he went after Palin.
The media digs up old clips of anyone and everyone using the Lipstick on a Pig line to defend Their Chosen One.
But you know what? All of those clips were from before Sarah Palin used the What's the Difference Between a Pit Bull and a Hockey Mom? Lipstick line.
And the telling element is Obama's timing and body language - and the crowd's knowing roar the minute he says Lipstick. They knew what he was talking about and so did he.
And so instead of defusing the situation with some sort of muffled, qualified, I'm-sorry-if apology, Obama actually chose to lie and deny his political insult.
Disingenuous and dishonest. Not good qualifications for a leader.
~~~~~~~
My observation:
The Dems are falling apart. Obama is not keeping up his persona at all anymore. Which makes me happy - we need to see the Real Obama.
And where is Michelle?
And why do the McCains and Palins campaign together like friends - I saw them today (will write more later) and it is truly impressive to see how much they all like each other - while we never see the Obamas or Obama/Biden together these days?
I agree. I don't want to bag on the guy, but it did SEEM that he backpedaled as soon as he said it by adding the quip about the fish.
Either way, the crowd got it.
I so badly wanted to go to the Rally!! But I have been having trouble breathing so I can't get that far from my nebulizer. I can't wait to hear about it.
I am sending the Obama local office a tube of a lipstick I no longer use.
I am glad that his mask is slipping. Bring it ON!
During the dem. primary he used to "stealhfully" flip off Sen. Clinton and then pull this act after he was called on it.
Creepy.
I imagine the Biden's are keeping their distance after Obama lip-locked with Jill during the convention...perhaps that was a little TOO friendly. LOL
I may be way off here, but I find it interesting that Obama would invoke the image of a pig when speaking in the direction of Sarah Palin, a Christian, knowing he's been accused of being a closet Muslim. An interesting juxtaposition, in my opinion.
Where is Michelle?
Didn't she say something stupid before the DNC? Then, we didn't see or hear from her until the convention and now, nothing since.
Maybe the party thinks it best to keep her away from the press, especially now that there is such a strong intelligent giving female on the other party's ticket.
Can we compare Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin? Both female, both mothers.....that's all of the similarities I can think of.
If the dems are as worried as I think they are, it is probably a good idea to keep Michelle under wraps.
Just a thought....
I was at the rally today, too! I was wondering if you were there.
I'm so disappointed. I sat and listened through four or five video clips of this statement from Senator Obama. Not once did he mention Gov. Palin with reference to the Lipstick on a Pig. He started off the statement with...Senator McCain is now starting to say that he's about change..either way he puts it it is like putting lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.
Right now with everything that is going on we need to stop perpetuating lies and pray. These are scary times except for our faith in God. For all that I've read on this blog it appears that truth is absent and not wanted. I'd hoped that we wanted the best person for the job and one that was Christ-centered. Apparently not. Just remember what happened when Moses married the Ethopian woman and his sister mocked him. God placed a plague upon her... please let us pray and get back to policy. The rain will fall on the just and the unjust.
As a Christian woman, I'm ashamed of a lot of what I'm reading. It's truly sad.
What about when John McCain made the same "lipstick on a pig" comment about Hillary Clinton?
Video evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMPYkNQlJMM
I understand it's Obama's reaction you're mad about. But the original comment was something McCain did in fact say about Hillary Clinton.
What I find so creepy about this example of his ability to pander, and appeal to the lowest common denominator, is that you can see in his body language that he doesn't feel comfortable making the comment! His conscience is telling him not to do it but he continues on! Does he really think the average American will vote for this kind of behavior!? Is he running for student-body-president or president of the United States?
I agree with you Barbara, the way he pulls the first punch then plays the victim is absolutely appalling! Then, to top it off, the media doesn't show what really happened! They immediately turn it into how John McCain is using dirty tactics. When Obama played the race card by saying that he doesn't look like other Presidents, implying that the McCain camp will use the race card showed us what a stinker he is. Now we get more of same against Sarah Palin. Thank goodness for shows like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity that do the undercover work and they show us what really happened and websites like yours! I watch CNN and they have a totally different take on it, their biased take! I once saw a bumper sticker that said "CNN LIES". I wish I had one! Julie c.m.
Oh my gosh Barbara.....I couldn't agree with you more. I was thinking all the SAME things you just posted! The opposition is very worried and starting to crack. I find Obama's attitude arrogant and unbecoming. I can't stand the way he struts back and forth, too important to even make eye contact. Oh, and that hand bump thing that Michelle does...Eeegads. I am so proud to be represented by the CLASSY McClain/Palin ticket!
I agree totally that he's backpedaling. He's a liar and his true colors are coming out. Good! It's about time!
By the way, I hope no one confuses me with the other libby who posted earlier. I was just dumbfounded at her post. Go figure. Some people refuse to see the truth...
Oops...just re-read my post and I meant lip-LOCKED. Here is comedian Jimmy Kimmel's look at the event via you-tube clip if you missed it.
They are doing a good job at hiding Michelle lately. I guess they can't risk having three of them with their feet in their mouths.
