Pondering Palin - my article today at Crosswalk

Pondering Palin
Barbara Curtis

The backlash against Sarah Palin was to be expected. From the Left, that is.

What has been surprising is the condemnation by conservative Christians who see her VP nomination as a Trojan horse to capture our votes even as our values are compromised. This from the patriarchal and separatist crowds, as well as believers scattered here and there who cannot reconcile the fact that Palin serves as Governor of Alaska while continuing to have children. Her latest, a son with Down syndrome named Trig, was born last April.

Hope you can see from the absolute writhing of the Left - three articles on the front page of the New York Times, no less - that this only proves what a threat this woman is - because she is the real deal.

For us, she is the right person at the right time. Maybe not according to our human logic - but according to the way God has historically woven His intervention in human history.

Love,

good stuff.

"Sisterhood of the Given-up-pants" LOL

I said in another place that I really feel like this election is so one of a kind in how it is forcing us to confront our world views head on. The feminists are big on "deconstruction society" to reveal the hidden prejudices. Between the black man with an islamic name and the young pretty breeder..... theres just no curtain to hide behind.

GREAT article. Thanks for taking time to articulate these thoughts, which I share, so well.

I just found your lovely blog through some click-throughs and have bookmarked it!

Anecdotal story: My incredibly patriarchal, conservative FIL has stated that God has used women for His glory before, and this may well be another instance. Coulda knocked me over with a feather! We can't wait to see her in office!

Sarah Palin is obviously an amazing woman, mother and dedicated public servant. Her life story is compelling and admirable. However, it is hard to imagine a mother with a 5 month old special needs child, and a 17 year old daughter who is going through a big transition for a teenager; balancing the demands of the Vice Presidency with the needs of her family. It is alot on anyone's plate, especially someone who has the potential to step into the presidency, if (God forbid) the president would pass asway in office. I just wonder, will her children be negatively affected while their mother "breaks that highest glass ceiling?"

What's that on Sarah Palin's shoulder in the photo? Is that her baby in a sling?

I find the media reaction to Sarah Palin scary. I wouldn't want to meet these people in a dark alley.

Posted by: Julana | September 2, 2008 4:43 PM

Yes, Michelle, that is the baby in the sling. And that's not the only picture of him there. There are lots of them, in different settings. There are photos of her grocery shopping with him, like any normal mom.

Barbara, great article. I think something you hit on which the patriarchal group absolutely does not acknowledge is: free will. They don't believe in it at all...I think that causes a lot of difference.
