Preschool at home - Mommy, Teach Me! photos

stephani's son noah-2.JPGAlong with Stephanie's endorsement of my book - see Why Preschool? Why Not Home? - she sent me a picture of her not-quite-three-year-old son at work, which I included in the Mommy, Teach Me! web album with the following caption:

Stephanie's son Noah (almost three) working on pattern blocks - a great example of using not-specifically-Montessori early education materials in a Montessori fashion to get the most out of them (part of the Mommy, Teach Me! message). Notice how the blocks are on the left, so Noah is exercising left-to-right eye hand coordination, so essential for later reading skills. Also the concentration. Thanks, Stephanie!

For those who've not seen this photo album, here is the Picasa slide show:

Or better, yet, go to the album to read all the captions which explain the learning process involved in each activity. If you've read my books and have pictures of your own, please send them my way.

I'd also love to start a group of YouTube videos of moms teaching children or children doing MTM activities. Anyone interested in sending me some to link?

Love,

That photo of a 3 yr old and pattern blocks brings back lots of sweet memories for me. Each of my children loved to do pattern blocks and other calm, careful activities at home between ages 3-8. Their Great-Grandma had an old wooden set of 1" blocks, each side a different color, fitted in a square. That set was the prized activity for all the little ones & not so little ones who visited her. The previous generation, her grandchildren, including my husband, were allowed to play with them only when she cut their hair! :) Susan T
