Rangel calls Palin "disabled" - Dems desperate?
I know I already did the Sarah Palin Outrage of the Day, but they keep coming in:
Don't know if you all have been keeping up with Ol' Charlie Rangel, but he is the disgrace - or would be if Democrats ever were help accountable for anything.
He is under investigation for tax evasion, unreported income, and owning a bunch of houses offshore off the record. He refuses to step down and Nancy Pelosi isn't interested in exerting her authority in the situation.
As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he is personally responsible for the kind of oversight that was needed to avert the current financial collapse.
He is another politician who has lined his pockets while accumulating power and control while doing nothing for the citizens of this country.
This is exactly why our country needs Sarah Palin. While Obama dazzles his followers with empty talk of change, Palin has a history of facing down corruption - even within her own party. She does not take her cues from public opinion. She is not playing up to the press, trying to curry their favor (which they complain bitterly of).
This is why the Good Ol Boys - including Obama - are scared of her. She's not just empty words. She has a track record. We need someone to come in and shake up the corrupt establishment in DC.
This financial collapse is not solely Bush's fault. It started in the Clinton years when his administration pressed for more home loans with looser guidelines, using Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to their own advantage. While Nancy Pelosi blames Bush, our Congress has been under Democrat control for two years now and DONE NOTHING. People like Rangel in powerful positions could have done a lot.
Now they've all taken a break - disgraceful! - while still doing nothing.
As reported at Eye on the World:
Harry Reid: Congress goes home because "no one knows what to do"
Democratic "leadership". Anybody still wonders why Congress has a 9% approval rating?
Democratic Congress May Adjourn, Leave Crisis to Fed, Treasury
Obviously, they are happy to blame Bush and hope the American people don't notice that he is just the President and they were actually in control but had no plan - just empty words and a desire to consolidate power. And hoping that the crisis continues and their blame game will carry them through the election.
Obama makes fun of McCain - calls him "panicked" - while presenting himself as the calm, cool leader. Then says he won't reveal his economic plan until after the Feds reveal theirs. Great leadership.
Obama's strategy reminds me a lot of the Clintons - but with less finesse. Accuse the other side of everything you are doing yourself. Accuse the other side of lying so hopefully no one will notice you lied - as when Obama placed Spanish-speaking ads linking McCain to Rush Limbaugh's position on illegal immigration. Tow MAJOR lies: Rush and McCain have NEVER been on the same page on this issue; and the words were lifted out of context to say exactly the opposite of what Rush intended.
This ad was so blatantly wrong that the Wall Street Journal invited Rush to respond - which he did in Obama Is Stoking Racial Antagonism. And Rush will have a Spanish-speaking guest on Monday to tell the truth.
This was an Obama campaign ad - not a peripheral group.
I think people are starting to wise up. Obama's speech was disrupted today by a large group of black protesters who disagree with him on issues like gay marriage.
There ARE black people who plan to vote for McCain/Palin because of their pro-life, pro-family, pro-country position. I know several such families here in Loudoun County. And there are white people who plan to vote for McCain/Palin not because they are racist, but for the same reason as their pro-life, pro-family, pro-country black friends and neighbors. For us, it's not about race at all.
Still, we are hearing a growing drumbeat from the Mainstream Media that people who vote for McCain are racist.
Really?
Is it just not possible that some people are voting for principles, not personalities? Is it just not possible that Catholic voters who wanted to give Obama the benefit of a doubt are realizing that they can't in good conscience vote for someone who is so adamantly pro-abortion that he would not protect the lives of babies born alive following botched abortions? Is it just not possible that some voting blocs - like women - are tired of being taken for granted by the Democrat party? Is it just not possible that people are wising up to the disingenuous tactics used when you make snide remarks about lipstick on pigs and then act like you are the one offended?
I think people are hungry for authenticity. A lot of Sarah Palin's appeal is because she refuses to kowtow to the press and speaks directly to the American people - like Reagan did. In the midst of a firestorm of hatred and lies directed toward her and her family, she fremains focused on the issues, upbeat and very much in the spirit of a person who has a big job ahead of them and is confident in her ability to be ready.
If anyone is disabled, it's the creepy people like Charlie Rangel who've become morally stunted as they've ensconced themselves in the trappings of power in Washington and come to consider themselves above the law. Representing themselves as representing the little people even while giving their own greed free reign.
Which brings me to a subject I neglected - there's been so much to talk about, hasn't there? - Obama's glitzy 28,500/plate Hollywood fundraiser - hosted by Barbra Streisand. That night, in the midst of all the economic fallout with people losing their homes, all those wonderful people who want to tell us how to go green and live better lives - raised nine million dollars for Obama. You can see the full guest list - table by table - here.
And yet, people still believe it when he says he's all about the middle class. This is someone who hates the middle class and would choose not to hang out at your house or mine. And I think that's true of many Democrat politicians - including Bill Clinton. They know nothing about average lives or common people. But they use their charisma to make them think they're on their side.
I'm praying that people will come to see that the theme of Change that Obama used needs more than empty words to back it up. It needs leaders who will bring a spirit of reform to the Presidency, who will expose people like Charlie Rangel and whose dignity and joyful attitude will stand as witness against every onslaught by an increasingly disturbed group of elitist/leftist/Washington Good 'Ol Boys/and overpaid Hollywood stars.

Barbara, you have valuable information on your site. Thank you for what you do.
PBS is also having a poll right now about Sarah Palin. Is she ready to be VP? Please check it out and post the link if you feel led to so others can vote. I don't have a blog. Thanks!

Barbara, I'm glad you can keep me posted on what is going on without spinning it like the media always does. I've simply had to stop watching anything that pertains to the election, I find myself so upset and just literally screaming at the television. I will watch fox in the evening and also some fox and friends in the morning, so far they seem to be the only media outlet that doesn't spin the truth or openly favor Obama.. whatever happened to letting people hear both sides and letting the people decide?

Barbara--
Thanks for telling it like it is!
I totally agree with you. And I get so depressed that other people can't seem to see beyond the sound bites to the actual issues involved.
I remember my nephew telling me that he loved Obama, and then I asked why? He said because he was cool. I asked what about him specifically he liked, and he couldn't tell me. So we had a rational discussion about it, and he now would never vote for Obama in his lifetime. But at school all he hears is how great Obama is and how evil the Republicans are. But they don't actually know WHY.
When are people going to learn to investigate the issues and decide for themselves? If you really look at what Obama is standing for, you'd see that it's really nothing at all. There's no there there, so to speak.
But there is with McCain. And Palin is the real deal. I pray people see that...
