Verizon wireless usage: Gone overtime? Call them.

VERIZON_WIRELESS_PN-215.jpgJust passing on a little-known something I found out last month:

Our family had gone overtime on minutes - easy to see why with all we had going on, I guess.

I have no idea why I decided to call them as I had not reason to believe they would do anything compassionate or kind aobut it.

But the rep told me that because of my account loyalty, she could write off the extra minutes one-time only.

This is not something that applies to every Veizon customer. But if you have used Verizon for a long time and paid your bill on time, it's worth a try if you ever go over your allotted minutes. Just call and act pathetic and ask if there is anything they can do about it.

Also, I found out that it is good to track usage even if you usually stay well within bounds - because if you do go over one month and change your plan before the bill cycle ends, you can avoid paying the extra minutes.

Just thought I'd pass this on. I always feel like bills are up for discussion. Also, because many lifetimes ago I was a customer service rep for AT&T and then Pacific Bell (other little-known facts about me), I always ask reps to look at my bill to give me suggestions on how I could save money.

Love,

AT&T Wireless has done this for us more than once. I was really surprised, as I didn't expect it once, let alone twice. It pays to ask, in my opinion.

Verizon did this for my Mom last month when my brother was in the hospital for several days and everyone was calling her for updates. She called to see if she could pay for extra minutes so she wouldn't go over and explained that she was in the hospital and they gave her 500 extra minutes for free!! I thought that was really nice!
