ACORN and Obama - in a nutshell

In case you've been asleep for the past five days and are waking up to hear Acorn this and Acorn that, here's just a little something to catch you up. In a nutshell, ACORN is a "Community organization which aims to win power for low and moderate families. Its aims are to gain better housing for first time homebuyers and tenants, ...a government funded community action."

Unfortunately, they don't do this in anything even remotely resembling a nonpartisan way, but acting as a government-funded - and extremely aggressive - arm of the Democrat party.

The news has been replete with stories over the past few days of the corruption which has become synonymous with Acorn:

1 Voter, 72 registrations: "ACORN paid me in cash and cigs"

Vote drives defended, despite fake names
: ACORN registers Mickey Mouse:

The Complete Guide to ACORN voter fraud

Wall Street Journal: Obama and Acorn: Community organizers, phony voters, and your tax dollars

Even CNN, a major cheerleader for Democrats and Obama, has weighed in:

Let's not forget that Obama's touted "community organizing" was with ACORN. He is on record as promising them not only his attention after his inauguration, but also after the election in helping to put together his new government. With what has been exposed about ACORN and Obama's strong and deep roots in ACORN, this is pretty scary:

With so much breaking news, I'm trying to nutshell stuff - that is, to get you up-to-speed quickly - and then round up links so you can explore mor details if you have time or the inclination.

And to know that I'm not making this stuff up :)

Unfortunately, our Mainstream Media has turned completely away from investigative reporting that may in any way tarnish Obama or the Democrat party. Count on them only for leftwing cheerleading and grasping at straws to get some dirt on Palin.

One person following this issue closely is Michelle Malkin. she's someone you can trust

Folks, this election is about so much more than McCain vs. Obama. It is about the media and its no-longer-subtle covering up for a party running rampant with corruption and lies. How many people do you know who truly understand that Bush and McCain are both on record as demanding more oversight with Fannie Mae? And that the villains in the story are Barney Frank and several people now working for Obama?

The problem is that the information is on the Internet, but unless you have a lot of time to devote to seeking out the truth, you're left with the media cloud of disinformation. If this election is to be won by conservatives, we all have to become educators. Please don't give up talking to your family and friends and trying to set the record straight.

And get your kids involved. Because Maddy has seen the YouTube videos I've linked here for herself, she is better equipped to understand the issues than her liberal friends at school who have no facts, but at best simply spout the talking points they've heard on TV - and at worse, just resort to ad hominem attacks.

Love,

According to my Congressman (Culberson, Houston TX), who is on the appropriations committee, Barney Frank added a provision in the housing bill that every single mortgage written will include a 4.2% basis point "fee" that will be given to "housing for the poor" groups like La Raza and ACORN.

That means that if you buy a $100,000 house, you have no choice but to give $420 to ACORN.

BTW- would you mind doing an "Obama and William Ayres" in a nutshell?

[from Barbara - yes, I will do that tomorrow - I feel like I got behind in keeping up with the rapid-fire news events, but I will have us all up-to-speed before the end of the week]
