Dr. Dobson interviews Anne Rice for Focus on the Family

Anne Rice - yes, THE Anne Rice, author of best-selling vampire books - became a Catholic a couple years ago, as reported at MommyLife.

Today and tomorrow Focus on the Family will be broadcasting her interview with Dr. Dobson: From Darkness Into Light. Tune in to your regular radio station or pick it up at the Focus Daily Broadcast site.

AnneRice.jpgAnne Rice is regarded as one of the most widely-read authors in modern history, as her novels have sold more than 75 million copies. Novels in her bestselling The Vampire Chronicles series include Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. Her most recent book series is a trilogy titled Christ the Lord. Anne's late husband, Stan, passed away in 2002. Anne currently resides in California near her grown son.

She even has an ad at her website:

I've got this loaded onto my ipod!

It's funny, my husband and I work in the family restaurant and one day one of our regulars was discussing her favorite books with my husband. She started to say she really liked the vampire chronicles and said "but I don't read her anymore since she got all weird." My husband didn't know what she was talking about but didn't say anything. After the customer left he asked me "what was she talking about?" I told him how she had become a Christian.

He was amazed and said "Well if she can convert, then there's hope for us all."

I think Anne has returned to the Catholic Faith of her childhood. Judy

Although I heard the interview, there is one thing that bothers me. She claims to be a very careful researcher when it comes to her work and yet I wonder if she will touch on some very obvious bible truths in these works? I can account for her detailed writing having read her re-imaginings of Vampires in her past books. Yes, I was a fan who read many of her books and I must admit, they are very detailed and carefully written to leave nothing to the imagination.

Will her books about Jesus dance around bible truth or be truthful despite what her religion teaches? Will they re-imagine Jesus in a way that we were never meant to nor should we ever dare to?

I must admit I am curious to read these new books, but having read her previous works leaves me with a very cautious feeling about all of this. Anyone who has ever read her Vampire books can tell you - this is like Darth Vadar claiming to be a force of good now for the Light Side. Can you trust him!? And that's the feeling I get with this. Still, praise the Lord she found Christ.

I think it is great that she has found faith. I myself am a Catholic and have struggled. Reading her books you can tell she struggled with it as well. Why are we going to question her? Prodigal son...even i am not the best at quoting verses but I do remember that story!
