Doesn't it occur to them that people on either side of the aisle are fans? I love it when they poke fun at Christians - after all, they poke fun at feminists, environmentalists, girly-men. When it comes to satire, they are truly an equal-opportunity employer - or at least they used to be.
Isn't the machine changing the vote and killing Homer a little too obvious set-up?

I really like the Simpsons, but in a the last couple of years they have left their normal hit all sides satire to being very one sided at times.
Last years episode on Homer joining the military was the worst Simpsons show ever. The episode on gay marriage was not exactly balanced satire-wise either.

I started watching The Simpsons when I was 8 years old. (WOW! I can't believe it's been that long!) But I thought they jumped the shark years ago -- are they even funny anymore?
