So much for global warming. . . .

Valley shivers as winter weather makes a premature appearance
Big snow flakes fell early Friday evening, turning Downtown Boise into a giant snow globe for people on their way home from work. The snow caught many people off guard, including this bicyclist

You all already know I think that Global Warming is a crock - cooked up to keep the masses in alarm mode while attention-craving politicians and Hollywood posers wax hypocritical in the talk/walk department. (See Google weighs in on global warming and Global warming - a cause worth dying for?

How can anyone trust the U.S. Mainstream Media about anything? Why do so many follow the People/Newsweek/Post/NYT/RollingStone/USAToday NewSpeak?

It's only thanks to the Internet and blogging that we know anything at all these days. Imagine how in the dark we'd be without some glimpses of real news.

What do you think? Where do you get your news and who do you trust these days?

Love,

Where I live in Alaska, it snowed on the 30th of September! That's the first time in ten years that I remember it snowing and sticking this early. I heard that this winter was going to be a cold one for America. But it's supposed to be warmer than average up here (ha)! Pull out your parkas everyone!
As a side note, I read your post on Google and global warming, including the conversation about stewardship. Have you ever seen the internet movie "The Story of Stuff"? It does talk about man-made global warming a smidgon, but the main point is that we are being egged on by the media and even the government to consume. The first time I saw it, I was so disturbed, I decided to become a minimalist.

I just tend to go by ear of the people living in the real world. I read MacLean's magazine mostly. If I can make a connection between the articles and people living the real thing, then I believe what I read. Other than that, I don't pay much attention to the news. I just believe the global warming thing is a crock.

Barbara, I love the way that you call this what it is--a crock.

We used to frequently run into our local TV weatherman at various events, and eventually, he invited us to bring the children to the studio for a tour. He is a smart, intelligent, Godly man who likes what he does. While there, he told us what he thought of global warming (untrue!)and how they can use and manipulate some of the information to try and make us believe in it.

I personally think that a lot of this is rooted in unGodly fear. Who are we to think that we can destroy something as magnificent as our earth, with the order of how it all works!? Can we abuse it? You bet! Destroy it? Not a chance!

We are to be good stewards of the earth, NOT worship it.

God is still God.

Well, I've always been very firm in my anti-establishment beliefs--I mean, I did tell my 10th grade chemistry teacher off for trying to convince us we came from monkeys or from a random explosion. But more than that, look at the Bible. It does not prophecy the end of the earth due to manmade global effects. I do believe there is something to being a good steward of what God has given us which is why I kill my back getting my 20-lb baby in and out of the backseat of our 2-door Monte Carlo instead of driving the Suburban when it's just the two of us! I mean, it doesn't take much to realize that doesn't make much sense.

But...I live far too close to Boise for s**w this early in the season...I was enjoying my head in the sand on this one, Barb!

I dont ever watch the news. You are right, they try to scare us into doing what they want. It is all about money, after all, isnt it? I personally dont ever think about global warming. I do my part to live "green" because I believe we do impact the health and beauty of our world....but i lay awake at night about so many other things, i dont need to add the end of the world to my list. :)
As another post-er said, God is still God, and He always will be!
