VP Debate moderator Ifill writing Obama book
In case you haven't heard this breaking news:
Gwen Ifill of PBS, who is scheduled to moderate tomorrow night's VP debate, is under contract for a book focusing on blacks who are 'forging a bold new path to political power' - including the new messiah of the Left - Obama.
The title: The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama
From Amazon:
In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama's stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power.
WorldNetDaily harks back to Gwen Ifill's obvious disdain for Palin at the Republican convention:
But [Ifill] also was cited in complaints PBS Ombudsman Michael Getler said he received after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered her nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., earlier this month. Some viewers complained of a "dismissive" look by Ifill during her report on Palin's speech. According to Getler, some also said she wore a look of "disgust" while reporting on the Republican candidate.
At that time she said, "I assume there will always be critics and just shut out the noise. It is surprisingly easy."
A clip of Ifill's coverage of Palin can be seen here:
You gotta wonder how a woman who has declared this the "Age of Obama" could be considered neutral by ANY stretch of the imagination. Imagine anyone who'd declared it to be The Age of McCain,The Age of Conservatism, or The Age of Palin.
Not only is there the ethical problem of lack of neutrality, but there is obviously a faninacial conflict of interest: as Ifill's book is scheduled to be released on Inauguration Day January 20 and the sales will definitely skyrocket if Obama is the one being inagurated.
What can you do? Elizabeth writes:
I thought you might want to alert your readers to the fact that the moderator for Thursday night's debate has written a pro-Obama book scheduled to release on inauguration day.Anyone wishing to voice their opinion about this blatant conflict of interest can contact the Commission on Presidential Debates here:
Ask the Commission on Presidential Debates if she will acknowledge her conflict of interest: 202-872-1020.And here's the e-mail address of Janet H. Brown, Executive Director of the Debates Commission: jb@debates.org
Praying for a "more perfect union,"
Elizabeth
It is absolutely astonishing that the major news media are n longer even pretending to be neutral. I was thinking this morning that if it weren't for the Internet, Drudge, blogs, talk radio hosts like Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh we would be completely in the dark.

That's very interesting. I remember seeing her reporting that night, and I noted that she did seem extremely dismissive. I wondered if it could possibly be my imagination- certainly, I thought, no reporter would let their bias seep through THAT blatantly. But I guess I was right on the money.
Amazing. But not surprising at all.
