Teaching children compassion: book ideas

I've recommended these books before, but as a follow-up on yesterday's post on Raising children to let go of selfishness, I want to highlight them again. I am all about investing money wisely these days, but in the picture-says-a-thousand-words spirit, these books will go a long way to opening your children's eyes to the larger world and helping your family keep some perspective at Christmas.

The Amazon links can provide you with more information, give you access to cheaper used copies - and if you buy from them, help support this site. But you can check your local library and it they don't have copies, ask them to get them.

We own these books and keep them on our coffee table. They are amazing:

Other books I've used for years to teach my children about life around the world:

Amazon is having a 4-for-3 special now, btw. And I want to remind you, as I reminded readers in Mommy, Teach Me to Read!: that books are a worthy investment and speak volumes to your children about your priorities.

Love,

thanks for the ideas!! It's so hard when there are so many to choose from!

I'm sorry, but I can't figure out what books you are highlighting, I don't see a link. I looked back at your previous post and just saw the "National Geographic" magazine recommendation. I would love to know what books are good at teaching compassion. Thanks.
