Dr. Dobson interviews Kurt Warner today

Dr. Dobson Praises Football Star Kurt Warner

Christian role model will play in Sunday's Super Bowl.

Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, said he's really looking forward to this weekend's big football game.

"The Super Bowl this year has an element to it that makes it even more interesting to me," he said, "because one of my favorite players, Kurt Warner, is quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.

"I'm telling you, his dedication to Jesus Christ is very, very real."

Nine years ago, Warner earned the Super Bowl MVP award as he led the St. Louis Rams to victory.

In between Super Bowl appearances, Warner and his wife, Brenda, joined Dr. Dobson in the Focus on the Family radio studio. The special broadcast, which will re-air Friday, tells how the couple met at a grocery store, where Kurt bagged the food and Brenda was a checker.

Brenda was a single mom of two, but that didn't faze Kurt. They were married in October 1997.

"Not only am I indebted to her as a mother, as a wife, but for the fact that she led me to my relationship with the Lord," Kurt told Dr. Dobson. "And it's an awesome feeling to know I get to live with her the rest of my life."

Dr. Dobson praised Kurt for his strong stand for Christ.

"I appreciate you being a role model," he said, "and giving parents someone to point to, with regard to their kids."
