Amercian Idol

idol-logo.png What season is this? Once again, the Curtis family - minus the three who've gone off to college - are settled in for our favorite winter-into-spring show. For a family that watches very, very little TV, American Idol has become a family tradition.

For those inclined to dismiss American Idol without ever even checking it out, you may be missing more of an opportunity than you know. American Idol is a great show for anyone who enjoys music, singing, youth and the study of character building. Watching it with your teens is a great way to connect and will open up many opportunities for discussion. It's a clean show and usually has contestants who are believers. Though AI doesn't discriminate against gays, it also doesn't discriminate against Christians - an unusually fair policy in these Over-the-Rainbow times.

It's on Tuesday nights. They've already been through the national tryouts and the actual competition begins tonight. If you haven't done so before, you really ought to check it out.

I so agree with you! The kids and I watched the last two seasons together and had fun talking about the contestants' strengths and weaknesses all during the week. My husband thought we were nuts, but he finally started watching toward the end of last season and really enjoyed it. We are glad he has decided to join us because it truly becomes a family bonding time.

Perhaps your Downzers are too old for this, but my Downsie girls (two of them in particular) sing LOUDLY along with the contestants! In our house, it's just part of the fun of the evening.

Have fun tonight!!

We missed the first few seasons as I am not usually a fan of reality shows. But with 3 teenagers I finally had to give in a bit. So funny that this is the one show that everyone except the baby actually comes together to watch. Very cool...... although I am turned off about how they make fun of the potential contestants as they visit cities. However it does have a lot of powerful messages about setting goals and reaching for them.

I love American Idol. I am glued to the T.V. when it comes on. I thought that the performances were really weird last night. I though Danny did the best . He is really good, he shows a lot of emotion and passion when he sings.
