The political situation - spread the word!
Okay, since the media thinks "We are all socialists now" and our president sees fit to to tell us directly not to listen to the only opposition he faces - Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity (so far he hasn't mentioned Laura Ingraham) - we really have to find ways to equip ourselves as an informed citizenry.
The Dems are set to move on talk radio to silence all political free speech. Which will leave us with only blogs and word of mouth to spread the truth about the dangerous things going on in Washington - for instance, the government health care power grab hidden in the so-called Stimulus Bill.
Please understand that these scare tactics Obama is using are the pattern of a demagogue, grabbing power by appealing to fear. He has made it clear that he refuses to listen, that he is not "bipartisan," and that he thinks nothing of breaking promises of integrity and reform while trampling over the opposition. In just three weeks, look at the rapid descent we have made into the Marxist vision conservatives tried to warn was his real vision.
Only now - as Newsweek crows - we are supposed to embrace it!
Thanks to those of you who affirmed that this is a good place to gather news in a way that fits in with your day and your life. I feel that this is truly my calling right now. God knows, I would rather get up and write about pleasant things - and I will - but we do need to understand what is really going on in the seat of power which is just an hour from my house.
Von sent the following out to her homeschool email group. I thought I'd pass it on in case you might want to do the same:
As a busy home school mom, I don't have the time to keep up with all of the news of the day, much less stay up-to-date and informed of events happening in Washington when something like this stimulus package is being debated and voted on.And with a child as young as 9 yrs. old, there are some news events that I just don't want her to hear yet, so I don't listen to talk radio or watch a lot of local news throughout the day.
I need sources that "get to the meat" of what is happening and will put it in a language that I can understand.
I read my friend, blogger, and author, Barbara Curtis at www.mommylife.net
Barbara is the mother of 12 children, ages 8-39 (4 have down syndrome, 3 of whom are adopted), with 5 still at home, is a former home schooler and trained Montessori teacher. Barbara has written books (6 or 9 or such) and has articles that are published nationally. I especially enjoy reading her since she is a former radical feminist and is very transparent about her life-the good, the bad, and the ugly. In other words, she doesn't hesitate to admit she was wrong or made a mistake-truly a rare quality these days.
Barbara is staunchly pro-life and doesn't hesitant to state the truth-on all issues. At Mommylife you will find articles and information on all aspects of motherhood, but when the political climate is stormy she offers a lot of information in manageable portions, with links to the whole story. I can choose if I read the whole story or just a snippet.
No pressure-just want to share a resource, if you don't have one.
If you have a blog, you might consider adding a MommyLife widget:

Von's letter is wonderful! However, if anyone wanted to use Von's letter as a jumping-off letter to their own group of friends, caution. In the body of the letter the website address is wrong. I checked it out, and it leads you to many options, and women would not find Barbara's Mommylife.
Otherwise Von's letter is spot on!
