Tripp update

Please continue to pray for Tripp.

Though the surgeon said things went well and he was able to put in a new knee prosthesis, there was some trouble controlling the bleeding. Tripp has to take anti-clotting medication, which leads to this complication. His body is weakened and not manufacturing its own blood as quickly as needed, so he had to have several units of blood today.

I'm mostly concerned though because he has been very depressed this time around. After seeing him today, I called our church and Fr. Cesar and Fr. Gerard went tonight to take him Communion. And a friend of his who has a great sense of humor came to visit him today. I couldn't visit tonight, but the nurse said he seems to be in better spirits.

He is supposed to come home tomorrow. They really roll people out of the hospital too soon these days. I dread the ride home on our potholed, washboardy country gravel road in the big 'ol van which feels every bump and then some. That's a hard hour for Tripp - but it will be nice when he is home.

I will keep you posted.

Love,

Prayers for Tripp. I have no doubt that his strong will and faith will bring back. This is one tough surgery and he has been through 5 of them?!

I am praying for a quick and uncomplicated recovery. If there are any hitches, it may be time to go to Johns Hopkins for anything that needs to be done. They are ranked second in the country for this sort of surgery and they do many complicated cases, unlike most community hospitals. We have found that it can make a big difference where you get treated for complex procedures and situation. This MRSA situation is really horrendous and a tough challenge for hospitals.

Praying for Tripp and all of you. Poor guy, his low spirits are so understandable.

May God hold him close, heal him completely, and restore his joy.
