Buffy Saint Marie

Today I remembered how much I loved Buffy Saint Marie back in my hippie days and thought how sad it was that some of you might never have heard her.

Thank God for YouTube! This first one is just the audio with album cover, but I love this song:

Here are some live performances with Pete Seeger (grainy black and white) and Sesame Street (accompanying herself on mouth bow):

That lyric was originally "I'm so drunk that I can't stand steady" - but they changed it for the kids :)

Love,

Thanks for sharing Buffy with us. I LOVE your new hairstyle. It may not be new but I am just noticing it. I have just recently gone short with my hair and I love it. It is so much easier and I get so many compliments.

I have always "loved" Buffy from the 1960's. She was my heroine and I loved emulating her voice while singing along with her.
She did sooo much to boost my self-esteem as my Native American ego was painfully shy. I could raise my voice to sing like her...LOL.
Not only is she very beautiful, confident and talented, but she did not "just" cash in on her heritage as a gimmick.
I will always respect her and wish her all the love and happiness...her songs bring back so many bittersweet feelings and memories of my youth and it also makes me happy she was a part of it!
