Obama - secret meeting with Brad Pitt. Why?
Can you believe this?In case you were busy shopping sales and trying to feed your family on 40. this week, it might help you to know that Capitol Hill is living large.
Yesterday Brad Pitt had a secret meeting with Obama before showing up to thrill the groupies on Capitol Hill. Nancy may have been denied her photo op with the Pope, but she did get it with Brad! Who needs the sacraments?I liked Brad better when he refused to comment on current events, acknowledging that as an actor he was only skilled in acting and did not know enough to comment on politics. Ah, but that was before his Brangelinization!
And our power-mad sycophantic Congress: Clearly, these politicians are so divorced from the original understanding of servant leadership that they feel they can summon auto execs and berate them, making them grovel, and then for no good reason at all waste taxpayer money - all those empty desks at how much per hour? - entertaining celebrities.
Why not make the movie stars grovel for their bloated salaries and unconscionable carbon footprints?
Capitol Hill goes gaga over Brad PittWASHINGTON (AP) -- First of all, no, Brad Pitt is not short. Yes, he's handsome enough to stand out in any crowd. And, sorry, Angie wasn't with him.
From the moment he stepped into the Capitol on Thursday, sunglassed and goateed, Pitt's star power transformed congressional business-as-usual in a way any lawmaker or new president might envy.
Pitt's superpowers are such that he and President Barack Obama pulled off an improbably secret meeting on the same topic earlier in the day, White House spokesman Thomas F. Vietor confirmed.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was not immune to his charms. Praising Pitt for his work to rebuild New Orleans' hurricane-ravaged 9th Ward, she even allowed that meeting him affords her "bragging rights to my children and my grandchildren -- a real treat for me as well."
And during a closed meeting earlier, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confided to Pitt that he was envious that his lieutenant, Majority Whip Dick Durbin, got to meet soccer star Mia Hamm a day earlier, according to one person who was present and spoke on condition of anonymity.

I'm not sure which one had the bigger thrill, Brad or The One. A sad day indeed for our country when our Commander In Chief consults with a film star. God help us.

Even before this, Obama's gift to Britain's PM was so telling. Let's see... what meaningful gift could we give the leader of a prominent nation to symbolize something which we hold as noble, ultimate, wise, principled, true, beautiful, admirable or honorable? Something that represents us, what we're about, and the best we have to offer... Hollywood, of course! Celebrity government self-righteously pushing our worldview and the sexy causes of the day... Yech.
