    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!
  • Noisy Nora
    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool

Barbara Curtis on HSLDA Homeschool Heartbeat

homeschoolheartbeat.jpg

I am the guest this week on HSLDA's Homeschool Heartbeat. You can hear the five segments (about 2 minutes each - and boy, was that hard to do!) here.

HSLDA is launching a new program to encourage mothers who choose to homeschool their children and are featuring my books Mommy, Teach Me! and Mommy, Teach Me to Read! as suggested resources. I am so grateful for this partnership: there is nothing I want more than to empower and equip mothers who may be experiencing pressure and struggling over the question of preschool.

For more information on my books and links to other resources, visit my site Mommy, Teach Me!. And browse through the many entries I have here by clicking on Categories above, then Montessori, Preschoolers, Toddlers, and Homeschooling.

If you are considering homeschooling, visit Home School Legal Defense Association to find out why I recommend every homeschool family join. HSLDA was founded in 1983. I joined in 1990 when I began homeschooling my own children. Not only did I want to support an organization which kept current on all state legislation affecting homeschool families, but I wanted the security of knowing that if our rights were ever challenged, someone would be there to defend them.

Thanks again to HSLDA and Mike Smith for inviting me to be on Homeschool Heartbeat!

Love,

My son is 4 years old. We've been "homeschooling" him practically since he was born. The compulsary ages to attend school are 7-16 in my state. When should I join the HSLDA ? Also, my state is pretty lenient toward homeschoolers. We don't even have to notify anyone if we plan to homeschool.
Thanks for the post, the radio spots made me want to hear more from you.
