Born-again American - sing a song of gratitude
If a picture paints a thousand words, the video you'll see when you click below - thanks, Wendy! - could inspire a hundred thousand. Even if you're not a country fan, watch it through to the end.
E Pluribus Unum - Out of many, one!
I've always thought it ironic that when Virginia mandated the permanent posting of "In God We Trust" in every public school (yes, that's right - and ya gotta love Virginia!), aggrieved atheists sought to counter this perceived encroachment by insisting on a companion poster: E Pluribus Unum.
E Pluribus Unum - Out of many, one! I love it, don't you? But how ironic, for it actually speaks directly against the leftist agenda, which has historically used diversity to exploit distinct groups of people. Leftists have always been more interested in building voting blocs than building unity.
Conservatives celebrate diversity too! But since we tend to see people more as individuals than as members of distinct voting blocs, we can do it free of cynicism and self-interest. Diversity is what made our country great - and I say that as an American mutt with Italian/Irish/Dutch/Native American blood coursing through my veins.
Diversity is beautiful - and I say that as a mother of kids of different ability levels and different races. Also as one who's lived long enough to appreciate the common ground we share because we live in a country founded on the novel idea of protecting our inalienable rights.
While leftists see the state as divvying up and doling out rights, the framers of the Constitution knew better. When our Founding Fathers - true political visionaries - said our Creator had imbued us with "inalienable" rights, they meant business. And they were simply describing the truth.
Celebrate the truth: Being an American is something to be proud of, something that unites us and gives us a vision that even the most cynical and exploitative politicians will never be able to take away. Our president may be bowing and scraping to every dictator on the planet, but we know in our hearts that our country is unique in its vision and in its history of ever-evolving freedom. As we see the current administration working relentlessly to dismantle our republic to emulate ruthless and exploitative dictatorships, let us never forget - or forget to tell our children the truth about our heritage.
Obamas and Bidens and Pelosis and Axelrods - people who would sneer at a simple patriotic song - will come and go. But our pride in our country and the principles it was founded on will be passed down through the generations.
And when it comes to the future . . . well, I hardly need to remind you when it comes to conservatives vs. liberals how much more heavily invested we are in generations to come :)

Hi Barbara, I clicked on the "Born Again American" box a few times and every time I clicked on it, it took me to Amazon.com Earth Day Deals.
[sorry - I fixed it!]

That was beautiful. Thanks for posting. I worry about the country that I love being destroyed by the Obama administration. I pray that we, the people, can take it back . . . I'm a born again American !
