Not feeling well

sickApparently yesterday I set some kind of record for typos.  Reading back this morning, I was embarrassed by my last post.

I am sorry as I know it's difficult to read carelessly presented work.

I didn't know it then, but evidently I was getting sick.  I twittered at 7:45 am yesterday that I needed to go back to bed after getting the kids off to school.  Slept for an hour, then went about my chores, never feeling quite well enough to write the article I'm supposed to be doing for Crosswalk this month.  My living room is the staging area for changing seasonal clothing and the hall outside my office was crammed with all the flannel sheets and comforters which needed to be washed and put away.  In the process I'm sweeping out closets.  Well, you know the drill.

When Tripp left to pick up the kids from school and take them to CCD, I posted the entry about Obama and then collapsed in bed and fell asleep for another hour. This was so weird, as I just don't take naps since I lost weight a few years ago.  I forced myself up when the kids came home and shuffled through the motions of making dinner in a mental fog - which I attributed to taking a nap during the day.

Went to bed quite ill and feel pretty terrible this morning - so now I know that what was going on yesterday was that I was getting sick and not surrendering.

Today I surrender.

This feels very strange since Tripp is supposed to be the one who is sick.  Yesterday he stopped taking his last antibiotic - a day early - because he says he just can't take how sick it makes him for five hours after he takes it.  The doctor wants him to take it for three more weeks but our insurance won't approve it (it costs 5500, our copay 200.)  Because of the side-effects he's been having for the past month - and after seven months of being disabled - he says at this point he'd rather lost a leg than lose his mind.  So now whether the infection returns is entirely in God's hands.  I guess he's surrendered too.

I am up to make the kids' shakes and then going back to bed.  Hard because there is still so much work to do here.  So hoping I feel well enough to do it later today.  No matter what, I will probably post anyway.

Thanks to Rachel, who was faithful to tell me of my mistakes.  She must have known there was something wrong before I did :)

Love,

Remember the closets will be there tomorrow. You know that you have to be well so you can help everyone else. You have been the rock of your family while Tripp has been down; it's amazing that you didn't get sick earlier. Rest now.

Chicken soup, tea honey and lemon, vitamin C and D!!

Been reading that D is needed for fighting flu - of whatever
sort.

Think I'll go take some right now.

And don't apologize for sleeping! You NEED it.

Ditto what's already been said. Take care of yourself and you'll be able to recover more quickly once the virus has run its course. The closets, winter clothes, etc., will wait.

Here's the CDC's recommendations if you think you might have swine flu. I hope you feel better soon!

"People with fever and mild respiratory symptoms should call their physician for guidance. If you live in an area that has not reported any cases of swine influenza, your physician may direct you to come into the clinic to be evaluated. If you live in an area where swine influenza has been documented, your physician may elect to treat you over the phone. The CDC recommends this approach to minimize the number of sick people who go out into the community or into a clinic when cases have been confirmed. People who are seriously ill should seek medical attention immediately through an emergency room or other setting. This includes people with shortness of breath, confusion, dizziness, or alterations in consciousness. Small children may not be able to describe their symptoms, and parents should look for signs of rapid breathing, bluish skin, or reduced level of responsiveness, which should prompt immediate medical attention. "
