Share your recommendations at MommyLife

A few months ago, Jenny emailed me with a glowing recommendation for the Word and Song Children's Bible, which I finally got around to sharing last week (still catching up on email *blushing*).

Since that post, my Amazon account shows that 12 of these CD sets have been ordered - including one by me. On the tail end of raising 12 kids, I tend to think I've seen everything, but Jenny's testimony of her kids' love of this set persuaded me.

So, it's occurred to me that some of you may want to recommend things you've found that your kids loved. As moms we sometimes bring home stuff for our kids with high hopes only to be disappointed, so maybe - like Jenny - when you find something that really works, you would like to share it here.

Please feel free to email me with these recommendations. I will research myself and either include them in Barbara's Picks (left sidebar) with your written review - or feature something really special now and then as an entry.

Love,

We still love the GT & the Halo Express Bible verse tapes... now available on CD also. There are 7, each focuses on a topic and contains 10 or more verses- word for word from various versions- set to a variety of musical styles. The verses are interspersed in the topical story shared by 1-2 "angels" who interact with 2-4 elementary aged siblings/friends. These are appropriate for anyone and some of the songs are so beautiful, they still bring tears to my eyes... esp. #4 which contains Rom 8:28-29, Rom: 8:38-39, and Is 43:2-3. I learned these verses and 67 others so easily from listening along with my children. Knowing these verses has greatly enhanced my personal understanding and made Community Bible Study lessons easier.

The songs were initially written by a couple to help teach their children verses quickly, because their young son was to have heart surgery & would wake up temporarily paralyzed... they wanted him to be able to calm himself with God's Word... their story was initially shared on Focus on the Family, at least 17 yrs ago. Interestingly, the family's last name is Kingswriter. :)
