No matter where my husband's job makes me live, I will always be a Texan! I wish I could go home.

While I completely agree w/ the statements made my Gov Perry, what bothers me is his hypocrisy. This is the same man who mandated that all young girls be vaccinated w/ Gardisil to be enrolled in school...talk about a right's infringement! This kind of back-and-forth ideology I think is why Republicans have a hard time getting credibility. They aren't real conservatives anymore!

Very important message here. Over 16 minutes...and no telepromptor???

For the people who are not alarmed by the actions of the federal government in the last few weeks they are either shamefully naive or sadly putting all of their trust in a man who has no interest in the citizens of this country and their rights. I guess that the liberals feel very comfy right now, but what happens when the day comes they no longer agree with what is going on in the White House. I hope they don't get too caught up in the wonderful feelings the squashing of the right produces, as I am certain the day will come when they have their own misgivings and then have no avenue to speak out.

I am Canadian, and although we contribute (a lot) of taxes while we live here, I somehow don't feel right about attending a tea party as a non citizen. I might be wrong, but it doesn't seem like "my" battle.

On another note, I had listened to the president of the Christian medical workers association speak yesterday and thought it very interesting that 95% of their membership have stated they would leave medicine before they took part in an abortion. I wondered if they would move to Canada, which has a severe shortage of doctors after many of ours left to work in the States. (After income caps were placed on them in the effort to reduce costs). I hope they know that they would be more than welcome in Canada (and no one would force them to perform anything against their conscience)

Absolutely, Kristen. I am very wary of Rick Perry. This resolution makes me hopeful, but I am concerned that it could be nothing but talk. Still, this is not just his idea, but a resolution drafted by our state legislature. Let's see if those boys up in Austin really mean it.

Question: Why wasn't this an issue during the Bush administration? Or was it? Seems more like Conservatives making waves since the country is now run by the newly elected Democratic majority. I can't remember a worse administration than that under former President Bush. Much of the country's current problems happened under G W Bush's watch to begin with.

I like the measure, but I do think Rick Perry (who I believe was a Democrat back in the day) is trying to get re-elected.

Thomas,
That's a very interesting take on Obama's massive bloating of the national debt since Bush left office. So, in this line of thinking, if someone cuts you with a knife, you are going to seek out someone with a hatchet to finish the job. Does that sound about right?
