Word and Song Bible for Children
Catching up on my Inbox tonight. Received this recommendation from Jenny two months ago:
Hi Barbara,Welcome home...after all you had going on. Been thinking about you and praying for you and your family. I praise God for all the energy He gives you. =)
This is random, but I keep meaning to ask you if you've ever listened to Word and Song Bible by Stephen Elkin. We first started listening to the stories and songs when Jake, our oldest was 3. We're on our 3rd or 4th set now...as we wear them out quickly. They are GREAT!!! They share one main story or theme from each book of the Bible and each story or theme has a song that goes with it. When I first started listening, I thought it was just kind of cute...but it has been powerful in our family. By the time our oldest boys were 4 ~ they could tell you a little bit about each book of the Bible. They know a lot of the characters and have MANY verses memorized because of this great tool. AND...they LOVE listening to it. Every night they go to bed listening....Jake is 8, Dawson is 6 and Garrett is 5. It's devotional even for Andy and me.
Just thought I'd pass that along to you if you think it might be of value for your readers.
Have a great day,
Jenny
I finally got around to checking these out and decided to order them for my crew. The book comes with 5 CDs and you can get it from Amazon alternative sellers for 13.90:

I wonder if the CD has kids singing, or adults? My problem is that my daughter really doesn't like CDs with kids singing in groups. It does make it harder to hear the lyrics, and often the singing just isn't that strong. I wish there were more good children's CDs with adults or truly strong children soloists!

There's no book with these but I'm willing to take a chance with the CD's. My 6 year old daughter got a CD player for her birthday and loves to listen. I figure anything to help her learn her Bible. Thanks, Barbara.
