    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!
  • Noisy Nora
    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool
  • A Chair for My Mother
    A Chair for My Mother
A remarkably beautiful story told by a young girl whose mother is a waitress. Since they lost all their furniture in a fire, they've been saving mother’s tips in a jar – so they can buy a big comfortable chair for their whole family to enjoy – daughter, mother and grandmother. Life has its ups and downs, but there’s always lots of love. Ages 4-7

On my way to the beach!

IMG_5938.JPGAnd now that I just stirred up a pot of Planned Parenthood stew - and finished my Mother's and Child photo album for my readers - and isn't it interesting that I find myself posting right between two drastically visions of motherhood?

I think motherhood is a beautiful thing. And if we respected sex, marriage and motherhood more, we wouldn't have the problems that Planned Parenthood claims to be helping even as they promote the behavior that has led to the breakdown of our country's basic infrastructure: the family. So finishing up the album above was a perfect ending to a day listening to bitter people who accuse defenders of the family of hate (that's the new buzz word you know: when you disagree with a leftist about anything, you are full of hate - this is priming for the expansion of hate laws they would like to see: more censorship, fewer obstacles to their agenda).

I'm off tomorrow morning for Virginia Beach with my five youngest for the Worldwide Challenger Little League Jamboree. They are excited because in addition to the games Saturday there is a dance Friday night and the theme is pirates (of course, they're not thinking of pirates in the modern context :) There is also THE BEACH and hotel rooms donated for families with kids with special needs right on THE BEACH. For a family that used to live 45 minutes from the Pacific Ocean and now live five hours from the Atlantic and so rarely see it, this is something our hearts yearn for.

God is so good. He knows how much I need this. Actually I can hardly believe I'm going to be able to go - I finally went to the doctor - I'd done everything I could to forestall, cure, and deny that I was sick until I couldn't lift my head from the bed - and we determined I had sinusitis. Have you ever had that? Ouch! It hurts! Augmentin and prednisone - because I was in such bad shape and needed to get back to being a mom for the kids this weekend - had me back on my feet in 12 hours. So I've been blogging, packing and catching up on laundry today.

Tripp isn't in shape to go for three days, so it will just be Maddy and Me and the Four Downzateers - will bring home pictures for you.

My winter/summer clothes transition is still being staged in the living room. But I've decided not to worry. Until Monday.

Maddy's sweetheart came over for dinner. The three college kids come home Sunday. Life seems full of comings and goings right now.

Just wanted to catch you up on my life and let you know why I probably won't be blogging this weekend. Although I'm taking my laptop with me, I don't plan to use it much. Tripp likes to publish my comments while I'm gone. He is such a sweetheart.

I couldn't be the mom I am without him! Love you, Tripp and so grateful that two reckless, counterculture "freedom-loving" people like us could finally find the truth about love, marriage and the family!

Have a wonderful mother's day! And don't forget, I'll be choosing the winners of my Mother's Day Giveaway Sunday night when I come home!

Love,
