Closing car dealerships: Obama's Enemies List???

ObamaPointing.jpg Will the Dinosaur Media ignore the suspicious chain of events: Obama takes over the American car industry (except for Ford, which refused to succumb), then as majority-owner orders closings of random dealerships with no apparent rhyme or reason. Highly successful dealership received their pink slips, leaving them with no recourse or appeal, only millions of dollars of inventory and only bankruptcy as an option.

Now it appears that there may have been a rhyme or reason - and that was political retribution. That dealerships owned by Republican contributors were ordered closed. One can only hope that some justice-minded journalists will rise to the occasion even though Obama is still their Ruler of Choice.

It took much less than this to bring down the Nixon administration, but nixon was a Republican, so we know how that goes. This is Chicago politics writ large. Chilling. And we never know where O&Co will strike next.

Keep up with this one - check Drudge each day - he is the best for breaking news.

From the San Francisco Examiner last night:

Is Obama closing GOP car dealers?

By: Mark Tapscott 5/27/09 9:36 PM

There appears to be a side to the Chrysler bankruptcy that has the look of an ugly partisanship not seen in this town since Tricky Dick was in the White House composing his enemies list and checking it twice every night while watching the evening TV newscast.

Bloggers on the Right side of the Blogosphere are up in arms over data suggesting that President Barack Obama's White House auto industry potentates are targeting for closure Chrysler dealers with records of contributing either to Republicans like Sen. John McCain or to other Democrats in the 2008 presidential primary.

Posts at RedState, Reliapundit, American Thinker, Gateway Pundit, Joey Smith and Doug Ross pointed initially at the remarkable number of closed Chrysler dealerships whose owners happen to have been contributors to Obama opponents, mainly Republicans.

But those observations were all couched with important qualifiers, particularly that all conclusions were necessarily preliminary, pending completion of a comprehensive analysis of the political contributions by all closed Chrysler dealership owners had been done and comparison of those with contributions by dealers who are not being closed.

That said, when multiple dealers who have been closed are found to have contributed millions to Republicans and mere hundreds to Obama, the serious number-crunching cannot be completed too soon.

Meanwhile, Ross seems to be ground zero for this story, and I encourage you to check out his multiple updates at http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2009/05/red-alert-did-campaign-contributions.html.

Among those updates is the one linking to a Reuters report quoting a lawyer representing dealers being closed came away from a deposition of a senior Chrysler executive with the distinct impression that the company is simply following orders coming from the White House.

"It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers. It really wasn't Chrysler's decision. They are under enormous pressure from the president's automotive task force," said attorney Leonard Bellavia.

Obama thinks he's Tony Soprano now- strong-arming legitimate, legal rights and claims from hedge funds... mafia-style, including union death-threats... so he could hand 55% of Chrysler over to the UAW, who donated $5M to his campaign.

If that's not stealing, I don't know what is... it doesn't matter how much you dislike hedge funds.

Now he's destroying the evil capitalists that didn't support his fraudulent, disingenuous campaign?

With the way he operated in Chicago, all those old skeletons in his closet, and now with attack campaigns on media figures and a corrupt cabinet, it's only a matter of time before Obamamania goes *pooof* The press can't cover up forever-

The White House says there’s “no evidence”- note that Hitler was careful to only give verbal orders, too... and Obama's not new to this sort of thing.

Obama's completely out-of-control. But what did anyone expect with a neutered press, compliant congress, and cabinet full of sycophants?

This might not be what it looks like. I heard about this on Glenn Beck's show. Most small business owners tend to be Republican.
A simillar case might happen if there were massive university closings, many professors are Democrats, so there would naturally be more of them laid off.

Melanie

[Right, Melanie. But Obama isn't closing universities, is he? Your argument seems rather circular.]

Ok I'll try to put it another way.
If you would have asked 100 GM dealership owners who they voted for in November and 90 out of 100 said Mcain and this week half of them have found out they are being shut down, how could it be possible for the 50 being shut down to end up being 25 Obama supporters and 25 Mcain supporters?

I hope my last comment didn't sound rude since it was so short. I have a kind of quiet personality. I guess it carries over to writing as well :-)

[This still doesn't fit because 1) You're assuming that most auto dealership owners would vote for McCain and that's not necessarily tru and 2) the suspicion surrounds the FACT that many very prosperous and successful dealerships were shut down while faltering ones were left standing. That just isn't the way business or restructuring would work - leaving room for much doubt.]

Ok you seem to have more knowledge about this topic than I do. I heard that there was a possibility this could just be a statistical issue and not another case of this administration's hidden agenda toward a police state.
I was trying to be optimistic that for once something was not a case of Washington's dirty politics, but as more information is being reported I guess it is just the same old games from DC.
