Media respect for presidency: stand for Obama, sit for Bush
From Patrick Gavin: Consider these two different reactions from the White House press corps during presidential drop-ins at the White House's James S. Brady Briefing Room:
Stop buying mainstream papers and watching mainstream news. Let's hope someday these prejudiced people will be pounding the pavement for new jobs.

I saw that, and my first thought was did the press always sit for Bush or just sometimes? I can't help but be a bit skeptical when I see videos like this. I tried finding other instances of Bush entering a press conference, but didn't come up with anything. I'd be interested in seeing if this was always the case, especially early on in Bush's presidency, or if this was more the case toward the end when he wasn't so popular.

Bush wasn't popular right from the beginning. Remember when he was whisked away after 911 and one of the newscasters got snarky about it? He was the President, for crying out loud! He was supposed to be whisked away for protection. Can you imagine the media response if Obama had to get whisked away? They would be demanding it!

Don't believe it for a minute.

[Note from Barbara: Adam - That was his LAST press conference - and it was a pretty half-hearted response - very different from the response to Obama.
The point is that the press should by definition treat the office the same and that the MSM has been way over the top in their adulation and protection of Obama while their contempt and hatred for Bush was always unrestrained.]
