    The Little Red Hen
Hooray for a good work ethic! The little red hen asks but receives no help in her efforts to put bread on the table. Yet all who wouldn't help would like to eat. In a refreshingly old-fashioned triumph of moral consequences, they don't get to!
  • Noisy Nora
    Noisy Nora
Poor Nora! The loveable mousette experiences all the pangs of the child-in-the- middle, caught between the demands of baby brother and bossiness of big sister. Catchy meter, playful illustrations make for a wonderfully satisfying mouse's tale. Baby-Preschool
  • A Chair for My Mother
    A Chair for My Mother
A remarkably beautiful story told by a young girl whose mother is a waitress. Since they lost all their furniture in a fire, they've been saving mother’s tips in a jar – so they can buy a big comfortable chair for their whole family to enjoy – daughter, mother and grandmother. Life has its ups and downs, but there’s always lots of love. Ages 4-7

Mother and Child photo album - Happy Mother's Day to you!

I am very excited! I've been working on a special project - a gift for you for Mother's Day. And I can't wait any longer to give it to you. Besides, if I give it to you early, you can pass it on to other moms too!

~~Mother and Child~~

We mothers carry so many burdens - and with little recognition or reward: no paycheck, performance reviews, report cards, medals, or trophies. But that's the beauty of our work: so challenging and yet so spiritually rewarding. It's just between us and God. That connection seems to come in the quiet moments with our children, when we feel the trust God has placed in us to do our best by the children He has placed in our care.

Happy Mother's Day from Barbara!

To see the artists and titles - or to pause - run your mouse over the bottom of album to bring up the controls. To see the pictures in album format, click below:

This is a gift that keeps on growing - feel free to send me pictures to add (I am not using Madonna pictures in this one - saving that for later)

It is also one that can keep on giving - please pass it on - you can use the Share buttons below or send a link to MommyLife!

oh wow Barbara! this is simply..breathtaking to me! how many hours did you put into this? seriously..and just so encouraging, seeing all these mothers from all walks of life doing everyday things from combing a childs hair to holding them as they sleep to nursing them or wakling in a park or even teaching music lessons!! how wonderful, and validating. I LOVE it! I sat with my older girls (ages 5 and 7) as they pointed to me which were their favorites and why...what an awesome bonding gift I was just given. thank you! :)

Thank you, I love Mary Cassett's paintings. All the paintings are precious and define motherhood on their own, no words required. Have a happy Mother's Day!

"Dancing Bear" by Frederick Morgan speaks SO closely to my life right now, it is by far my current favorite of the group. So much so, that I even blogged about it on my own site and linked back to you for all my mommy friends to be blessed by the slideshow themselves, along with a shameless plug for Mommylife. Okay, it was more than a plug. But I couldn't help it...I'm feeling sentimental today. ;)

Barbara, thank you for all the work that you put into this for us and thank you for the inspiration that you are to us.

How beautiful.

I hope to find a couple of these in affordable prints to frame for our home as a constant reminder that motherhood is a beautiful gift.

Thank you again!

Thank you for this beautiful labor of love. I loved all of the nursing mothers and I had to laugh at "Mother napping while baby tips over a fish bowl". Motherhood can be tiring! I, too, hope to find some of these for my home.
