Obama launches own news outlet: OTV

Apparently, the Obama Regime has decided that their media coverage isn't flattering enough.  At Political Punch, Jake Tapper reveals the first shutout of the White House press corps and the unveiling of a new media outlet: OTV - ObamaTV:

Do You Want Your OTV?

May 20, 2009 5:56 PM

On April 27, President Obama welcomed the University of Connecticut Lady Huskies, who had just won the NCAA women's basketball championship.

After the event, President Obama went to the White House basketball court to shoot hoop with the Lady Huskies. The White House press corps was not allowed to attend.

Reads the print pool report from that day: "After shaking hands with the team's parents and members of Congress who showed up, the president walked the team over to his basketball court and shot hoops. The pool was held back from the stroll down the drive and around the corner, and couldn't see the court. Poolers could hear periodic cheering coming from the other side of the bushes."

Read the TV pool report: "Your Pool was not allowed to go over and shoot POTUS with the team shooting hoops.  We protested loudly."

Now we know why: Obama White House officials decided to do their own media report on the visit, complete with cuts, interviews, and chyrons identifying who's speaking.

Also, just like a network, they have their own little logo!

Cute!

It's perfectly fine, of course, for the White House to put out its own version of events -- but is it right to do so by preventing actual reporters from covering something? (Even something like a pickup basketball game).

Do Obama White House officials think their media coverage isn't flattering enough?

Is the goal to ultimately replace the pesky photographers who film what they want to and not what they're told to (not to mention the annoying reporters who ask uncomfortable questions about, say, detainee policy and bank bailouts)?

Do you want your OTV? (I'll bet there are a few takers out there.)

Words fail me.  I'd like to hear yours.

Update:  Venezuela - whose political model seems to be the one Obama is following - just launched a police raid on the only oppostion news service left in the country.

Love,

What was the Soviet Union's tv called again? Pravda? Just Obama taking control of everything, one step at a time.

And America is still asleep.

I saw this as a small segment on Fox News last night and I was quite shocked. This should be headline news! It sounds like Mugabe in Zimbabwe where my mother-in-law lives. Mugabe has caused much suffering for his people.

"Shut-out" of the WHPC? I think that's overstating it just a little. It was a pickup basketball game, for Pete's sake. This reaction is a little alarmist, IMO.

I honestly think most American's are still blinded by the Obasma pixie dust to really see what is going on.

Many people can hear the train coming before they see it, but I think that hands are pressed firmly over ears and when the disbelievers finally turn around to look, they'll notice they are standing on the tracks...and it's too late.

"Every team that has more takers than givers is a losing team" - Geno Auriemma, Head Coach

And now we have, for the first time in history, a majority of people NOT paying income taxes into the system than there are paying taxes.

Obama pixie dust! LOL. I love it.

Elizabeth Esther, by itself this would mean nothing. We are just seeing layer after layer after layer...

Positively spooky. I know it's "just" a basketball game, but we couldn't introduce total state-controlled media by jumping in with both feet, could we? Still, one way or another, we're in the pool, and will eventually be submerged.

America is a very heavy sleeper. Drunk on something perhaps...?

On the surface... Hey, it's just a video clip of our illustrious leader shooting hoops with the lady huskies. Nothing for the press to get their noses bent out of shape for being left out. For not being allowed to cover the event.

The mainstream reaction is just what Obama and his staff were hoping for. "It's no big deal!"

The big picture is much more ominous. One little step at a time. Kinda' like the court reporter following the king around and writing their own history.

The kids and I listened to the Life of Bonhoeffer. What struck us was how fast Hitler took over the media. It was a matter of weeks, and the Nazis had full control of all radio stations, etc.

Hitler also claimed to be a Christian. He went to church. He had parties. He was a nice guy.

Obama looks like a nice guy. But what keeps being unveiled is his agenda - he wants to implement HIS vision of a "better" world. And if he has to control everything in order to do so, fine with him.

Sounds like Hitler to me.
